Siły Dowództwa Centralnego USA zakończyły 7 lipca nową rundę ofensywnych ataków na Iran, atakując ponad 80 celów amunicją precyzyjną w natychmiastowej odpowiedzi na ostatnie ataki Iranu na statki handlowe przepływające przez Cieśninę Ormuz.
Siły amerykańskie zaatakowały irańskie systemy obrony powietrznej, sieci dowodzenia i kontroli, stacje radarów przybrzeżnych, systemy rakiet przeciwokrętowych oraz ponad 60 małych łodzi Korpusu Strażników Rewolucji Islamskiej w cieśninie i jej pobliżu, aby osłabić zdolność Iranu do kontynuowania ataków na handel międzynarodowy przepływający przez międzynarodowy korytarz handlowy.
Iran niedawno zaatakował trzy statki handlowe przepływające przez cieśninę, w tym M/T Al Rekayyat pod banderą Wysp Marshalla, M/T Wedyan pod banderą Arabii Saudyjskiej i M/T Cyprus Prosperity pod banderą Liberii. Nieuzasadniona agresja sił irańskich stanowi wyraźne i niebezpieczne naruszenie zawieszenia broni i podważa wolność żeglugi.
