On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, U.S. company L3Harris Technologies announced that it had been selected to support the operational capabilities of the Polish Navy and its ability to conduct defense operations in the maritime domain by delivering an advanced ship platform management system for three Project 106 Wicher multipurpose missile frigates, being built under the Miecznik program. “Miecznik-class frigates, powered by L3Harris’ IPMS, represent the future of maritime defence, providing Poland with superior combat power and a strategic edge in regional waters,” said Nino DiCosmo, President, Maritime, Space & Mission Systems, L3Harris. “Our next-generation solution strengthens Poland’s defence industrial capabilities while enabling the fleet to extend operational range and endurance.”
L3Harris’ Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) includes functions and capabilities developed over years of cooperation with partners such as the British Royal Navy, the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Royal Australian Navy, and the Royal Canadian Navy. Since developing this technology, L3Harris has systematically advanced IPMS and has delivered it to nearly 300 vessels in 28 navies worldwide.
The Miecznik frigates, based on Babcock International’s Arrowhead 140 ship design, form the core of the modernization of the Polish Navy and will enhance its operational capabilities. L3Harris’ Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) will optimize situational awareness and operational effectiveness, while also increasing safety aboard these next-generation ships.
