“We are all aware of the opportunity created by rising defense spending. Although the PGZ Group is the largest domestic player in the defense industry, we do not want to be a monopolist, but rather an integrator. Through the regional forums we organize on a regular basis, we see strong interest from the private sector, which is looking for ways to become actively involved in the defense industry. And that attitude is encouraging. The aim of our meeting was to open a dialogue that will not only strengthen the voice of our industry in relations with the government administration and customers of our products, but above all make proper use of the potential within and around our organizations,” emphasized President Adam Leszkiewicz.
The participants agreed that although their organizations are strong brands that have been present in the sector for decades, their activities need to be better integrated so that the voice they present to the public and decision-makers is coherent and clearly heard. The objective is not to compete with one another, but to make better use of the knowledge and expert resources already available. Thanks to the SAFE program and defense spending approaching 5% of GDP, the Polish defense industry has been given an opportunity to transform and build mechanisms that could support a prolonged period of growth, provided that these efforts are properly planned.
The first step toward this is close cooperation between the largest organizations, which together bring together more than 200 entities. This represents a strong voice that can reach decision-makers more effectively and participate with them in shaping the foundations of a long-term strategy for the entire industry. It is also about supporting companies that, acting individually, have less chance of becoming equal partners in competition with foreign entities seeking the same contracts. The aim of combining efforts is therefore to help offset potential disparities and ensure that, on issues of key importance to Poland’s security, the voice of the domestic defense industry is strong and coherent.
