On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the American company Lockheed Martin announced that it had manufactured and delivered the milestone 350th example of the Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk multirole maritime helicopter, which was assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike Fleet Replacement Squadron 41 (HSM-41) Seahawks in the United States Navy (U.S. Navy), stationed at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California.
According to the press release, the helicopter was handed over to the customer during a recent ceremony. The Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk has earned a reputation as an effective anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopter thanks to its advanced sensors, integrated mission systems, precision weapons, and capabilities focused on network-centric operations.
“The delivery of the 350th MH-60R helicopter is a testament to the exceptional capabilities of this aircraft and the dedication of our team,” said Ali Ruwaih, Maritime Systems vice president. “We are proud to support the U.S. Navy and our global partners with this highly advanced multi-mission platform, which will remain a critical component of global ASW operations for decades to come.”
Thanks to its advanced sensors, radar, electronic support measures, data links, and armament, the MH-60R has repeatedly proven its combat value, most recently shooting down an enemy drone during a patrol in the Gulf of Aden. MH-60R Seahawk crews of the U.S. Navy have succeeded in sinking numerous armed boats belonging to the Yemeni Houthi militant group in the Red Sea, neutralizing threats to commercial shipping and protecting critical sea lanes. The MH-60R also played a key role in the Resolute Hunter exercises, seamlessly integrating with allied surface combatants, improving anti-submarine warfare coordination, and demonstrating its versatility in joint international operations.
“The MH-60R has been the U.S. Navy’s primary anti-submarine and surface warfare helicopter since 2010. This true multi-mission asset has proven itself in all aspects of land or maritime operations providing various mission requirements around the globe. We are grateful to the artisans at Sikorsky for keeping this invaluable asset at the ready for all our service men and women for decades to come,” said Captain William Hargreaves, H-60 Multi-Mission Helicopters program manager.
Thanks to its network-centric design, the MH-60R enables seamless connectivity and data sharing with other anti-submarine warfare (ASW) assets, enhancing situational awareness and facilitating coordinated operations. Its open-architecture avionics suite allows for the rapid integration of new sensors and weapons. The MH-60R is expected to remain in service until 2050, and an active production line ensures that customers can continue to acquire new helicopters and upgrade their fleets with the latest capabilities.
Lockheed Martin is currently producing the MH-60R also for export users, including the Republic of Korea, Australia, Norway, Greece, and Spain, with orders from New Zealand and (finally) Taiwan expected in the near future after negotiations were resumed, according to information from October 7, 2025. In turn, on October 21 last year, the company announced its intention to conclude a contract for the production of MH-60R helicopters for the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Procurement plans call for 79 aircraft.
