“Signing a contract to produce over 10,000 rounds of mortar ammunition for NATO is not only a business success for us, but above all a confirmation of NPGM’s role as a reliable link in the Alliance’s defense supply chain. “Our partnership with VOP Nováky allows us to effectively combine our technological expertise and increase production capacity in response to the growing demand of international markets,” says Adam Januszko, CEO of Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna.
The contract will be carried out in cooperation with VOP Nováky, a leader in the defense sector, with one of the most modern and highly robotized production plants in Europe. The company uses unique research facilities to produce advanced ammunition in calibers from 57 to 155 mm, rockets, and anti-tank systems. On February 20 this year, Excalibur International, part of Czechoslovak Group, signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of an undisclosed NATO member state in Western Europe for the delivery of tens of thousands of rounds of artillery and mortar ammunition, with a total value of several hundred million euros. The contract was awarded through an accelerated tender procedure due to the urgent need to replenish the ammunition stocks of the NATO member state’s armed forces.
MSM Group of Slovakia, also part of the CSG holding group, will also work closely on the delivery program. The ammunition will be produced by companies belonging to MSM Group, which includes leading European manufacturers of NATO-standard artillery, mortar, tank, and medium-caliber ammunition, such as VOP Nováky and ZVS Holding of Slovakia, Fábrica de Municiones de Granada (FMG) of Spain, and ZVI Vsetín of the Czech Republic.
On February 25, 2025, the then Grupa Niewiadów, now Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna, reported on social media that it had begun production of NATO-standard 60.7 mm mortar ammunition in high-explosive fragmentation and thermobaric variants, which have been used by the Polish Armed Forces since 2010. At the time, the company stated that the launch of production was the result of cooperation with Slovak partners VOP Nováky and ZVS Holding. The first batch of mortar bombs, numbering several tens of thousands, was delivered to a foreign customer in 2025.
The launch of the 60.7 mm mortar bomb production line was made possible by significant investments by Grupa Niewiadów in infrastructure modernization and by more than a decade of cooperation with Slovakia’s industry, also in the development of artillery research and development capabilities.
