On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Stockholm, Swedish company Saab Defence and Security and Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in the naval domain. The companies expressed interest in cooperation in the servicing and life-cycle support of surface ships and submarines, the inclusion of PGZ Group companies operating in the naval sector in Saab’s supply chain, and the pursuit of selected export opportunities for surface and submarine platforms, including rescue vessels.

n addition, the companies intend to establish an Underwater Technology Center in Poland and want to jointly produce and offer Saab’s Autonomous Ocean Drone, as well as explore opportunities for cooperation on a heavy torpedo project.
“I am pleased to have signed this agreement today with PGZ and to see the speed at which our cooperation is advancing. This agreement reflects a strong commitment to a deepening partnership between Polish and Swedish industry, while also contributing to enhanced security in the Baltic Sea and NATO’s eastern flank,” says Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab.
“Signing the strategic agreement with Saab confirms that the maritime and underwater domain is becoming one of the key pillars of Polish-Swedish cooperation, both from the security and industrial perspectives. For PGZ Group, this is an important step in developing naval competencies in Poland, integrating with international supply chains, and building long-term business value in cooperation with one of the defense market leaders,” said Adam Leszkiewicz, President of the Management Board of PGZ.
The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the companies during the MSPO trade fair in Kielce in September 2025. In October, the Polish-Swedish Defense Industry Forum was held in Warsaw.
On January 9, 2026, a meeting of the management boards of Saab and Polish Armaments Group took place in Warsaw, and in March the parties signed another agreement setting out their intention to cooperate on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) in Poland for submarines acquired under the Orka program. The companies are also analyzing further opportunities for cooperation on projects related to the development of defense technologies supporting multidomain operations and the production of mortar ammunition in Poland.
