On Friday, July 3, 2026, Polish Deputy Minister of National Defence Paweł Zalewski met with Vivian Loonela, Head of Cabinet to Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

During the meeting, the participants discussed preparations for the NATO Summit in Ankara, to be held on July 7–8 of this year, continued European Union support for Ukraine, and work on the European Security Strategy.
Minister Zalewski recalled that since the start of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, Poland has played a key role in supporting Kyiv. He pointed to the need for continued EU support for Ukraine, including through the EUMAM Ukraine mission, whose mandate is to be extended for another two years.
The meeting also addressed work on the European Security Strategy, with particular emphasis on strengthening the EU’s defense readiness.
Minister Zalewski emphasized the need for EU support in expanding fuel infrastructure on the eastern flank (EU Accelerates Work on Military Mobility – Vote on Military Schengen Possible in July, Poland’s connection to NATO pipeline system enters new stage).
