Bren 3 as Montenegro’s new service rifle
“We are pleased to become a partner to another NATO member state in the process of modernization of its armed forces. We are also proud that CZ BREN 3 rifles will be newly adopted into the service of a NATO country. We see this as confirmation of trust in the quality of our products as well as of the Czech defense industry,” said Radek Musil, CEO of Colt CZ Group.

CZ Bren 3 – further evolution of the Czech automatic rifle
The Bren 3 is a modular, multi‑caliber rifle operating on a short‑stroke gas piston system. It is a deep modification of the Bren 2 rifles, developed by Česká zbrojovka based on feedback from special forces. The weapon is currently offered to both military users and law‑enforcement agencies.
Key changes include:
- introduction of thicker‑profile barrels,
- a new handguard available in three variants – including one covering a suppressor,
- new stocks with a reinforced locking mechanism,
- easily replaceable bolt carrier guide rails,
- dual ejectors,
- a three‑position gas regulator (-, 1, +).
The rifles are offered in two calibers: 5.56×45 mm NATO and .300 AAC Blackout. During the 2024 premiere, seven barrel length variants were announced:
- 177 mm (7″),
- 228 mm (9″),
- 279 mm (11″),
- 368 mm (14.5″),
- 419 mm (16.5″).
