Polish–Slovak Defense Industry Dialogue in Bratislava: Borsuk and Rosomak IFV in the Background

During the Polish–Slovak Defense Industry Dialogue 2026 in Bratislava, it was announced that the Polish and Slovak defense industries are in talks regarding the Borsuk and Rosomak infantry fighting vehicles.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the first session of the Polish–Slovak Defence-Industrial Dialogue 2026 was held in Bratislava. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, together with Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Robert Kaliňák. The meeting marked the first forum of such breadth for cooperation between representatives of the two governments, as well as state-owned and private companies from the defense sectors of both countries, including, among others, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, which uses the name Polish Armaments Group (PGZ).

This first forum, the first defense and military industry dialogue jointly organized here in Bratislava, brings together 30 companies and more than 100 participants. This is an important step, because for the past two years we have been working intensively to ensure that companies are very close to one another, so that both the state-owned and private sectors can mutually recognize their capabilities and competencies. Today, during the bilateral meeting, we discussed several projects concerning ammunition, as well as the Borsuk and the Baobab, a scatterable mine-laying vehicle, which is very important in the context of Poland’s withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention. Cooperation on counter-drone projects is also extremely important. We devoted a significant part of our meeting to this issue. Poland is introducing the San system – multiple sensors, multiple effectors, reconnaissance, imaging, and then engagement, both electronic and, above all, kinetic, using various types of armament: machine guns and cannons that we present in Poland,” emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during the conference in Bratislava.

The main objective of the meeting was to review the existing cooperation and identify prospective directions in the production of military equipment. The talks were a direct continuation of the arrangements made on February 24, 2025, in Warsaw, when the defense ministers of Poland and Slovakia signed a letter of intent to strengthen relations in the areas of air defense (PPZR Piorun), the production of 155 mm ammunition, as well as armored programs (K2PL tank) and wheeled armored personnel carriers (Rosomak with the TURRA 30 turret).

We have enormous shared potential; we have what it takes to move forward together. The Polish–Slovak partnership makes great sense, and I have believed in it from the very beginning. This is my another visit to Bratislava aimed at building the strength of the Polish and Slovak defense industries, as well as developing operational capabilities through joint exercises of our armed forces. It is also crucial to build independent defense-industrial capabilities, especially in the face of conflicts around the world that may disrupt global supply chains,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of National Defence during the discussion panel.

During the thematic panels, experts and representatives of defense companies – including Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), WB Electronics (part of the WB Group), APS, as well as Slovakia’s DMD Group and Konštrukta Defence – discussed specific solutions for land forces, as well as unmanned and counter-drone systems. An important part of the conference was a session devoted to the European Union’s SAFE program and financial instruments supporting bilateral industrial cooperation (The Polish Government Reveals How It Will Spend €43.7 Billion from SAFE. Domestic Industry Will Be the Primary Focus).

The issue of the Piorun systems, which are used for very short-range air defense. The issue of the Rosomak or the Borsuk, the ZSSW-30 turret – very good equipment. We already have many projects defined, and not at an early stage, but at an advanced one. We want to finalize at least one of them in the first half of this year. I believe May will be a good opportunity to sign specific agreements between companies. The government has signed such agreements – we signed one on February 25 last year – so we are simply implementing it. Today’s meeting is a continuation of that agreement. We are working together under the SAFE program. I would like to stress once again how important the president’s approval of this program in Poland is, because it opens up the possibility not only of rapidly strengthening the armed forces, but also of developing the defense industry,” emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The event, co-organized by Defence24 and the Slovak think tank European Defence Analytics, provided an opportunity to exchange experience in the context of the ongoing modernization of the armed forces of both countries. The meeting in Bratislava confirmed that strengthening industrial ties between Poland and Slovakia is a key element of building regional security within NATO’s eastern flank framework.

Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) announced on social media that it had signed an agreement with the Slovak company EVPÚ, responsible for the TURRA 30 turret system. The TURRA 30 can be armed with a locally developed 30 mm GTS-30/N automatic cannon produced by ZTS-Špeciál, a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun (with 600 rounds of ammunition), and two launchers for 9M113 Konkurs anti-tank guided missiles (NATO designation: AT-5 Spandrel), developed by the domestic industry. Alternatively, the turret may be integrated with a Mk 44 Bushmaster II automatic cannon, an FN Minimi machine gun, and Spike anti-tank guided missiles (IDET 2025: Patria AMV XP 8×8 with TURRA 30 Turret)

UPDATE

Polish Armaments Group has published a press release regarding an agreement with EVPÚ a.s..

Polish Armaments Group and EVPÚ a.s. today signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at establishing long-term industrial cooperation in the areas of turret systems, air and missile defense, solutions for land forces, modernization, and the future development of land platforms. The agreement represents an important step toward deepening cooperation between the Polish and Slovak defense industries and toward developing next-generation military capabilities for both countries, as well as for export markets.

Under the memorandum, Polish Armaments Group and EVPÚ a.s. will continue and expand cooperation formats aimed at jointly developing, integrating, and producing advanced defense solutions by leveraging the strengths of both organizations. The partnership envisages the integration of capabilities from suppliers within the PGZ Capital Group as well as EVPÚ’s extensive experience in designing and manufacturing remote weapon stations, turret systems, and specialized subsystems for such solutions.

The agreement also establishes a framework for joint research and development activities, industrial cooperation, and the potential development of shared technological and manufacturing capabilities in Poland and Slovakia.

Today’s agreement marks an important step in strengthening regional industrial cooperation and building capabilities crucial for the security of Poland, Slovakia, and NATO’s eastern flank. PGZ has long been a prime developer in the segment of advanced land platforms – both wheeled and tracked – which makes us a natural partner for EVPÚ and their excellence in the field of turret systems, protection technologies, and integrated combat solutions. By combining our industrial, technological and production capabilities, we are opening the door to joint projects that will enhance defence capacities on both sides of the border and deliver competitive, future-proof solutions for us and our international partners.” said Marcin Idzik, PGZ S.A. VP.

The conclusion of this agreement represents a strategic milestone in enhancing regional defence-industrial cooperation. In the current security environment, resilient partnerships and interoperable capabilities among neighbouring countries are essential for ensuring long-term stability and operational readiness. The integration of EVPÚ’s advanced technologies with PGZ’s comprehensive platform portfolio will strengthen the technological sovereignty and competitiveness of both countries. We are confident that the combined expertise of Polish and Slovak engineering teams will deliver high-value solutions for domestic armed forces as well as for international partners,” said Michal Pavlík, President and CEO of EVPÚ a.s.

The aim of the cooperation is to strengthen the defense industrial bases of Poland and Slovakia through the combination of complementary competencies, the development of technological capabilities, and the delivery of scalable, interoperable solutions for NATO allies and partners.

Polish Armaments Group and EVPÚ will now begin work on defining specific projects, integration pathways, and mechanisms of industrial cooperation that will support the development of joint capabilities and ensure full compliance with national and international regulations, enabling deliveries to any country interested in enhancing its operational capabilities through solutions jointly produced by the Polish and Slovak defense industries.
