On Thursday, June 18, 2026, Niewiadów Group, a subsidiary of Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna (NPGM), signed a strategic agreement with French company KNDS France (part of the French-German joint venture KNDS) specifying the details of cooperation regarding the launch of long-range 155mm artillery ammunition production in Poland, with priority intended for the Polish Armed Forces. The target production volume of ammunition and propellant charges, utilizing French technology adapted to Polish infrastructure, is to reach 180,000 rounds per year. The agreement also provides for the possibility of rapidly expanding the cooperation to include production of long-range ammunition for light 105mm artillery and modern 120mm tank ammunition.

The subject of the signed agreement is the regulation of the general principles of long-term cooperation between the parties in the field of ammunition production in Poland. The cooperation aims at the rapid implementation of ammunition production. The primary area of cooperation is long-range 155mm artillery ammunition of the LU211P type, MCS modular propellant charges, and other components of the set, including CCC combustible cartridge cases. The agreement also covers the possibility of extending cooperation to the area of long-range 105mm ammunition and the latest family of 120mm tank ammunition, utilizing elements of the shared production infrastructure of Niewiadów Group companies. The recipients of the established production are to be the Polish Ministry of National Defense and KNDS customers.
The agreement was signed in Paris at the 29th edition of Eurosatory 2026, the international defense industry trade show organized by Coges Events, taking place June 15-19 of this year in Paris-Nord Villepinte near Paris.
“During the construction of the Ammunition Ring, we already signed a preliminary agreement with KNDS in March, declaring the intention to develop 155mm ammunition production in Poland. Over the past months, our French partner has been verifying our production and organizational capabilities, and we have been negotiating the details of future cooperation. This was not an easy process in light of the conditions we set regarding the scope of technology transfer, access to third-party markets, and exclusivity. The result is today’s Strategic Agreement, expanding advanced 155mm ammunition production in Poland to include MCS modular propellant charges. At the same time, the agreement allows us to incorporate new areas related to modern 120mm tank ammunition. Our intention is for testing on AHS Krab and K9 Thunder systems to begin within the next few months. The partnership allows for the direct expansion of Niewiadów Group’s manufacturing potential and the integrated ecosystem functioning as the ‘Niewiadów Ammunition Ring’ ‒ a practical implementation of ‘local content’,” said Dr. Przemysław Kowalczuk, President of the Management Board of Niewiadów Group.
In accordance with the agreement, Niewiadów Group will provide the necessary infrastructure and resources to launch production lines, and will also make its test ranges available for the qualification processes of Polonized KNDS solutions for use in the Krab and K9 systems. KNDS France, in turn, will transfer licenses and technologies, including in the area of projectile production and MCS modular charges at the LAP level. The French partner will also provide technical and personnel support.
The conclusion of a framework agreement on production and supply is planned before the end of 2026.
The parties also declared their intention to extend cooperation to include the transfer of 120mm tank ammunition, 105mm artillery ammunition, and 120mm mortar ammunition technology in the next stage of capability implementation.
“The agreement is a natural development of a consistently implemented strategy aimed at building modern ammunition production capabilities in Poland. It is worth noting that, according to surveys, domestic weapons production is supported by the majority of society. The implementation of French solutions will enable the production of large-caliber projectiles and modular charges based on KNDS technology. This is a key development of the Group’s currently ongoing infrastructure and research investments. On the implementation side, as planned, the construction of production halls in Niewiadów is underway. In Q3 of this year we will be ready to install 155mm ammunition production lines, and by the end of the year to launch production,” added Adam Januszko, President of Niewiadów PGM.
KNDS France is a French defense company belonging to the European KNDS group and one of the largest arms manufacturers in Europe. The company designs and produces, among other things, artillery (such as the CAESAR howitzer), tanks (such as the Leclerc), and armored vehicles, as well as ammunition. KNDS France also operates as a combat systems integrator.
