On Monday, 20 October 2025,Grupa Niewiadów-PGM, a company listed on the NewConnect market, signed an agreement with the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) to develop a complete domestic technology for the production of 155 mm ammunition, a breakthrough step in building Polish capabilities in large-caliber ammunition.
Thanks to cooperation with WITU, the Group will have the opportunity to develop and test the technology and prepare it for production implementation in accordance with the requirements of the JBMoU (Joint Ballistics Memorandum of Understanding), which will significantly increase supply autonomy for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and strengthen Poland’s position in the European supply chain.
The signed agreement on a joint scientific and technical achievement covers the development of manufacturing technology for a 155 mm projectile with a High Explosive (HE) warhead and its version equipped with a gas generator. Work will be carried out using domestic R&D and industrial capacity, and the parties foresee the possibility of involving domestic and foreign subcontractors/partners, with the party introducing a subcontractor retaining responsibility. The results of the work will be co-owned by the parties on a 50–50 basis.
“The signing of this agreement is a breakthrough moment in building national capabilities in large-calibre artillery ammunition. For the first time in Poland, the development, testing and implementation of a full production technology for the 155 mm round is being carried out based on domestic entities, without the need to rely on licences from outside the European Union. Thanks to cooperation with WITU, the Group will in future gain the ability to independently produce ammunition compliant with JBMoU requirements and adapted to the Krab and K9 systems, with the option to flexibly select components of European origin. This materially increases the supply autonomy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and strengthens the resilience of the supply chain. At the same time, we are laying the foundation for the development of a European supply chain aligned with the priorities of EU programmes Security Action for Europe and the European Defence Fund. The concluded agreement also opens the way for constructive dialogue with the Ministry of National Defence on future procurements and development programmes. We are ready to turn this project into the next step toward Poland’s security and technological sovereignty,” says Grzegorz Niedzielski, President of the Management Board of the Niewiadów-PGM Group.
The agreement also includes obligations to maintain confidentiality and protect know-how, as well as provisions safeguarding against unauthorized disclosure of documentation or use of the solutions developed.
