The Polish Grupa Niewiadów-PGM, together with WITU, will develop technology for the production of 155 mm ammunition

Grupa Niewiadów-PGM has signed an agreement with the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) to develop a complete domestic technology for the production of 155 mm ammunition.

On Monday, 20 October 2025,Grupa Niewiadów-PGM, a company listed on the NewConnect market, signed an agreement with the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) to develop a complete domestic technology for the production of 155 mm ammunition, a breakthrough step in building Polish capabilities in large-caliber ammunition.

Thanks to cooperation with WITU, the Group will have the opportunity to develop and test the technology and prepare it for production implementation in accordance with the requirements of the JBMoU (Joint Ballistics Memorandum of Understanding), which will significantly increase supply autonomy for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and strengthen Poland’s position in the European supply chain.

The signed agreement on a joint scientific and technical achievement covers the development of manufacturing technology for a 155 mm projectile with a High Explosive (HE) warhead and its version equipped with a gas generator. Work will be carried out using domestic R&D and industrial capacity, and the parties foresee the possibility of involving domestic and foreign subcontractors/partners, with the party introducing a subcontractor retaining responsibility. The results of the work will be co-owned by the parties on a 50–50 basis.

The signing of this agreement is a breakthrough moment in building national capabilities in large-calibre artillery ammunition. For the first time in Poland, the development, testing and implementation of a full production technology for the 155 mm round is being carried out based on domestic entities, without the need to rely on licences from outside the European Union. Thanks to cooperation with WITU, the Group will in future gain the ability to independently produce ammunition compliant with JBMoU requirements and adapted to the Krab and K9 systems, with the option to flexibly select components of European origin. This materially increases the supply autonomy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and strengthens the resilience of the supply chain. At the same time, we are laying the foundation for the development of a European supply chain aligned with the priorities of EU programmes Security Action for Europe and the European Defence Fund. The concluded agreement also opens the way for constructive dialogue with the Ministry of National Defence on future procurements and development programmes. We are ready to turn this project into the next step toward Poland’s security and technological sovereignty,” says Grzegorz Niedzielski, President of the Management Board of the Niewiadów-PGM Group.

The agreement also includes obligations to maintain confidentiality and protect know-how, as well as provisions safeguarding against unauthorized disclosure of documentation or use of the solutions developed.

A listed company in the defense sector

Since 16 July 2025 the Group has been operating under the new name Grupa Niewiadów-PGM. The merger of Polska Grupa Militarna, listed on the NewConnect market, with Grupa Niewiadów, a recognized manufacturer of special-purpose equipment and solutions for military and civilian sectors, resulted in a new corporate group with strengthened operational and technological capabilities.

The integrated entity operates across the broad defense sector. The Group also includes companies specializing in the development of unmanned systems (drones), dual-use products, military logistics and advanced technologies for the armed forces. The Group holds a license from the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) for the production and storage of ammunition and the trade in military goods, and is developing advanced solutions that meet the needs of the modern battlefield.

One of the Group’s most important assets is ZSP Niewiadów, a company with over 100 years of experience in armaments production and a long history of supplying the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. The Group is currently carrying out a strategic project to build a modern 155 mm ammunition factory in response to the growing defense needs of Poland and its allies. 155 mm ammunition is a key component of military equipment for armed forces around the world.

Thanks to the scale of its operations, complementary high-level expertise, and modern technological facilities, the Group is building a strong defense industry holding, one of the most comprehensive and dynamically developing private entities in the country. The Group’s products are supplied to both domestic and export markets.
