During the 29th edition of Eurosatory 2026, the international defense industry trade show organized by Coges Events and taking place June 15-19 of this year in Paris-Nord Villepinte near Paris, private Ukrainian company UkrArmoTech presented the improved UAT-D Giurza-02, a wheeled mine-resistant armored vehicle of the MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) class.

The company was founded after the outbreak of the full-scale war with Russia in response to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, developing vehicles of the UAT-D Giurza-01, the discussed UAT-D Giurza-02, UAT-T Cobra (with deliveries from May of this year), UAT-TISA, and most recently the latest UAT-D Giurza-03 and UAT Desna types.
The UAT-D Giurza-02 utilizes Toyota chassis components, but with proprietary components and modifications, and features a V-shaped hull bottom. It made its debut at the IDEX international exhibition in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in February 2025, alongside the aforementioned UAT-TISA.
To enhance off-road capability and maneuverability in difficult conditions – taking into account the vehicle’s maximum combat weight of 16 tonnes – it is equipped with independent double-wishbone suspension, a central tire inflation system, and other specially designed chassis components. The UAT-D Giurza-02 is powered by an electronically controlled Cummins ISDe 8.9-400 six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine developing 400 hp with a displacement of 8.9 liters, coupled with an Allison 3200 SP automatic transmission with six forward and one reverse gear, a pneumatic high/low range transfer case control system, and a dual-circuit pneumatic braking system.
The reinforced chassis ensures reliable operation across varied terrain, enabling steep gradient climbing and minimizing rollover risk. Vehicle handling remains smooth and responsive even during sharp maneuvers. The UAT-D Giurza-02 can operate freely in dense urban environments and is suited for all road types and off-road driving in temperate climates. The operating temperature range spans from -40°C to +50°C.
The vehicle offers enhanced ballistic protection to STANAG 4569 Level 2, with the possibility of upgrading to Level 3. The V-shaped hull bottom is designed to disperse the energy of an explosion beneath it, while additionally specialized blast-attenuating seats provide increased crew protection.
The interior of the cab – which is effectively an armored capsule – is also lined with spall liners providing protection for both personnel and onboard equipment against fragments weighing 1.1 grams traveling at speeds of up to 500 m/s.
The vehicle can transport a maximum of 11 soldiers, including the driver, at speeds of up to 110 km/h on paved roads. It measures 7.14 m in length, 2.6 m in width, and 3.5 m in height to the roof. Unladen weight is 14 tonnes, with a payload capacity of a further 2 tonnes.
The widespread use of FPV drones and the rapid development of their strike capabilities require engineering solutions to minimize vehicle vulnerability to attacks. To counter these threats, the UAT-D Giurza-02 is standardly equipped with integrated electronic warfare (EW) systems operating in the 150–1030 MHz frequency range.
Additionally, the vehicle can be fitted with steel mesh anti-cumulative screens, which increase protection without degrading vehicle performance or ease of use. The vehicle can be equipped with the FlyOff anti-drone system, which monitors radio signals, determines the direction of hostile emission sources, records drone detection data in real time, displays threats on a digital map, and integrates with various types of EW systems.
Armament options include a soldier-operated gun mount or a remotely operated weapon station with a 12.7mm M2 Browning or DShK heavy machine gun and 300-round ammunition supply (with the possibility of integrating weapons up to the Russian 14.5mm caliber). A smoke grenade launcher is used for self-defense. The vehicle can serve, when additionally equipped, as a medical evacuation vehicle, command vehicle, electronic warfare vehicle, or fire support vehicle.
