Indictment Filed for Espionage on Behalf of Russia
As reported on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, following an investigation initiated on the basis of the agency’s own materials and conducted by the Bydgoszcz branch of the ABW under the supervision of the Mazovian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutorial Office in Warsaw, an indictment was filed on February 12, 2026, with the District Court in Bydgoszcz against Polish citizen Wiktor Ź.
The prosecutor has charged the man with declaring his readiness to act on behalf of the intelligence service of the Russian Federation and with conducting activities for that service (Article 130 §2 of the Polish Criminal Code) by collecting and transmitting, via online messaging platforms, information concerning, among other things, the functioning of facilities of key importance to the defense of the Republic of Poland, the disclosure of which could have caused harm to the Republic of Poland. During the investigation, it was established that Wiktor Ź. collected and transmitted documentation including location data and information on the technical security systems of Bydgoszcz Airport, Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 2 in Bydgoszcz, Zakłady Chemiczne Nitro-Chem in Bydgoszcz, and also expressed readiness to provide information regarding the deployment of military facilities, including the Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz.
For the alleged offenses, the defendant faces a prison sentence of no less than eight years up to life imprisonment.
Procedural actions carried out by officers of the Bydgoszcz branch of the ABW in early June of last year prevented the accused, Wiktor Ź., from continuing his activities.

Indictment Filed for Planning a Terrorist Attack
As reported on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, following an investigation initiated on the basis of the agency’s own materials and conducted by the Rzeszów branch of the ABW under the supervision of the 1st Investigative Department of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnobrzeg, an indictment was filed with the District Court in Tarnobrzeg against 18-year-old Remigiusz Ż. He will face charges including preparations for a mass-casualty attack directed against a group of people, undertaken with the intent to carry out or support the policy of the Islamic State and radical jihadist organizations.
The prosecution alleges that the defendant publicly incited violence and hatred online based on nationality and religion, and prepared for an attack between November 2024 and May 2025. The investigation found that Remigiusz Ż. collected materials on weapons, explosives, incendiary and toxic substances, bomb construction and operation, methods of assembling, placing, and detonating explosive devices, as well as methods of carrying out attacks. He also drafted notes concerning a planned attack on a school in the Podkarpackie region. In addition, he possessed materials promoting jihad and the so-called Islamic State, mainly in Arabic and English.
The accused admitted to publicly inciting the commission of crimes against life and health but denied preparing to participate in a terrorist attack. Since May 2025, Remigiusz Ż. has been held in pretrial detention. If convicted, he faces a cumulative sentence of up to 18 years in prison.
