Eugene Yumshtyk, Chief Operating Officer of Paradigm Shift Technologies Inc., emphasized that this strategic partnership further strengthens the company’s presence in Central Europe. It is built on a shared vision of modernizing artillery systems, enhancing weapon durability and precision, and eliminating toxic chrome-based coatings from barrel systems.
James Allan, Trade Commissioner and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Canada in Poland, highlighted that Paradigm Shift Technologies Inc. is a Canadian innovator known for its patented coating technology, which doubles the service life of artillery barrels, improves accuracy, and reduces wear under high rates of fire. The cooperation is expected to focus especially on the 155 mm AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers and 120 mm M120K Rak self-propelled mortars produced by HSW.
He stressed that this partnership represents a significant step forward in bilateral defense industry relations and demonstrates the value of Canadian innovation in supporting allied capabilities, as well as the benefits of mutually advantageous cooperation (Poland and Canada are set to sign a cooperation agreement for 2025–2026).
Paradigm Shift Technologies Inc., based in Toronto and founded in 1995, specializes in advanced coating and surface modification technologies, primarily for the defense and aerospace sectors. Its flagship product is the patented EPVD (Electro-magnetically enhanced Physical Vapor Deposition) technology, which provides innovative internal coatings for tubes, barrels, and other components. This technology replaces toxic hexavalent chrome, enhancing durability, precision, and longevity of systems such as weapon barrels while also reducing environmental impact.
