1. PKW in Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, and Kuwait:

From July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, the Polish Military Contingent will be deployed in the Republic of Iraq, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Qatar, and the State of Kuwait, with a strength of up to 200 soldiers and civilian personnel. The PKW will be deployed for the purpose of participating in actions to prevent acts of terrorism or their consequences.

The general scope of tasks performed by the PKW will include:

  • under Operation Inherent Resolve: supporting the building of defensive capabilities of Iraqi security forces, including counter-terrorism capabilities, through advisory and training activities for staffs and special units, as well as supporting the process of building and developing counter-terrorism capabilities of Jordanian security forces and Qatari security forces;
  • under the NATO Mission in the Republic of Iraq: advising and training Iraqi personnel, and the defense and protection of advisors and bases.

2. PKW in Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania:

From July 1, 2026 to November 30, 2026, the Polish Military Contingent will be deployed as part of the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence forces in the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Estonia, and the Republic of Lithuania, with a strength of up to 320 soldiers and civilian personnel, along with necessary support and equipment. The PKW will be deployed to reinforce the forces of allied nation or nations. In the event of an armed conflict, the PKW may be deployed for the purpose of participating in that conflict.

The general scope of PKW tasks will include:

  • in peacetime: developing joint defensive capabilities through the execution of training tasks; in a crisis situation: executing deterrence and security tasks in crisis situations;
  • in the event of an armed conflict: executing collective defense tasks under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, signed in Washington on April 4, 1949.

On June 24 of this year, the President extended the mandates of four PKWs: in Kosovo and North Macedonia, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Romania, and Bulgaria, and in the Baltic Sea, Norwegian Sea, North Sea, and Atlantic Ocean.
