Nearly 600 Drones and Missiles Launched at Ukraine

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported another massive Russian missile-and-drone attack, involving 579 strike assets.

On Friday, April 3, 2026, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that, since 6:00 p.m. yesterday, Russia had carried out another air and missile attack against various targets, launching 579 strike assets, most of which were shot down.

Among the facilities struck was a veterinary clinic in Chabany, near Kyiv / Photo: State Emergency Service of Ukraine (Kyiv branch)

The Russians launched:

  • 10 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Kursk and Rostov oblasts;
  • 25 Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace over Samara Oblast;
  • 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles from Rostov Oblast;
  • 542 unmanned aerial vehicles, including more than 330 Geran/Shahed and Italmas types, as well as decoy drones of various types (including Gerbera), launched from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske and Chauda in Crimea.

The attack was repelled by aviation, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile air-defense groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, by 2:00 p.m. local time, air-defense systems had shot down or caused the crash of 541 targets, including 24 Kh-101s, 2 Iskander-Ks, and 515 drones.

Hits by 10 Iskander-M missiles, 1 Kh-101, and 27 drones were recorded at 20 locations, while debris from downed UAVs was reported falling at 22 locations.

State Emergency Service of Ukraine:

Kharkiv: The Russians carried out a drone attack on the central part of the city, injuring a man. In the Osnovianskyi district, a drone struck a four-story non-residential building. A fire broke out. Emergency responders were working at the scene.

In Sumy Oblast, the Russians carried out combined attacks on residential areas of the city of Shostka and the Hlukhiv community: one woman was killed and four people were injured. A municipal rescuer provided first aid to one of the injured women. All fire sources were extinguished.

Kyiv Oblast: One person was killed and another injured as a result of Russian attacks. The Obukhiv, Bucha, and Fastiv districts came under enemy fire. The consequences of the Russian attack are being dealt with at all locations, and emergency services are at work.

In Chabany, in Kyiv Oblast, the Russians struck a veterinary clinic. Rescuers fought for every life: they evacuated four-legged companions from the damaged building, administered oxygen, and tried to stabilize the condition of the injured animals. Sadly, not all of them could be saved…

Kharkiv: One person was killed and six were injured in a Russian drone attack in the city’s Shevchenkivskyi district. Two cars were damaged and two more were destroyed. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. Fire and rescue personnel, paramedics, and law enforcement officers were working at the scene.

At 10:01 a.m., the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command published the following statement:

Attention. Due to the activity of the Russian Federation’s long-range aviation, carrying out strikes on the territory of Ukraine, military aircraft have begun operating in our airspace.

In accordance with applicable procedures, the Armed Forces Operational Command activated the necessary forces and assets under its command. Quick reaction alert fighters were scrambled, while ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were brought to the highest state of readiness.

These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing and protecting the airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to threatened zones.

The Armed Forces Operational Command is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and assets remain ready to respond immediately.

At 11:16 a.m., a follow-up statement was published:

The operation of military aircraft in our airspace, connected with the Russian Federation’s strikes on Ukraine, has ended. The activated ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have returned to standard operational activity.

We inform you that no violation of Polish airspace was observed.

In line with the assumptions of Operation Eastern Dawn, the Polish Armed Forces are continuously monitoring the situation in Ukraine and remain in constant readiness to ensure the security of Poland’s airspace.
