Eurosatory 2026: Patria presents AMV XP with TURRA 30 and TRACKX mortar

At Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, Finland’s Patria Oyj showcased the AMV XP 8×8 wheeled infantry fighting vehicle with the EVPU TURRA 30 turret and a self-propelled mortar based on the TRACKX chassis.

At Eurosatory 2026, the 29th edition of the international defence industry exhibition organised by Coges Events and held on 15–19 June at Paris-Nord Villepinte near Paris, Finland’s Patria Oyj showcased the AMV XP 8×8 wheeled infantry fighting vehicle fitted with the Slovak EVPU TURRA 30 turret, along with a self-propelled mortar mounted on the TRACKX multipurpose armoured off-road vehicle.

Patria AMV XP 8x8 with EVPU TURRA 30 V10

The AMV XP 8×8 had already been shown with a TURRA 30-family turret system at IDET 2025, the International Defence and Security Technologies Fair in Brno, Czech Republic ‒ a system being fielded by the Slovak Armed Forces on the Vydra vehicle. However, that was an older variant. At Eurosatory 2026, Patria presented the latest V10 version, previously also shown on the German GTK Boxer 8×8 chassis.

The EVPU TURRA 30 V10 is equipped with independent commander’s and gunner’s sights offering hunter-killer capability, the HARPIA hard-kill active protection system with multifunction radars, an ATGM launch detection system, and AI-assisted gunshot detection. The turret also integrates a multi-canister VIPER launcher for unmanned systems, including reconnaissance UAVs, electronic warfare UAVs, loitering munitions and counter-UAV effectors. Other features include an optional miniature Gladius TWIN remote weapon station, Rafael Spike LR1/2 ATGM launchers with two missiles ready to fire and an additional ammunition load stored in the turret, which is protected by composite armour providing enhanced ballistic protection.

The main armament remains unchanged: a 30 mm Mk 44 Bushmaster II automatic cannon and a 7.62 mm PKT or FN Minimi machine gun with 600 rounds of ammunition.

Patria TRACKX self-propelled mortar variant

The second notable premiere at Eurosatory is a specialized variant of the TRACKX multipurpose armored all-terrain vehicle, first unveiled at DSEI 2025 in London last year. Previously known as FAMOUS (Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured Systems), the platform belongs to the ATV, or All-Terrain Vehicle, class.

NEMO

The vehicle has been integrated with an unmanned turret fitted with a 120 mm NEMO (New Mortar) mortar. The system is capable of firing in MRSI (Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact) mode, in which six mortar rounds fired along different trajectories strike the target area simultaneously, within less than four seconds, whether the vehicle is stationary or on the move. Developed between 2005 and 2008, the NEMO mortar is compact enough to be integrated with a variety of chassis, installed in a container, and mounted on naval vessels as NEMO Navy ‒ one example being Sweden’s newly ordered Amphibious Artillery Platforms.

Germany recently ordered the mortars for its new Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers, which will be procured under the international CAVS (Common Armored Vehicle System) program. The contract covers 69 self-propelled mortars, with an option for 61 additional units. They had previously been ordered by Hungary, where at least 24 systems will be installed on KF41HU Lynx infantry fighting vehicle chassis, similarly to the recently ordered KF41 vehicles for Romania. The mortar is also undergoing trials with the US Army, where a prototype designated MTMS (Modular Turreted Mortar System) has been mounted on the BAE Systems AMPV (Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle) chassis.

Earlier, it entered service with the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, which received 36 systems on LAV II chassis, and the United Arab Emirates, which acquired containerized and naval systems. It was also intended to be fitted to Slovenia’s Patria AMV wheeled armored personnel carriers, but the government in Ljubljana reduced its order for the base vehicles, dropping the mortar variant. The system is currently being offered in the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and Spain.

TRACKX

The vehicle, developed by a consortium using European funding and first shown publicly as a technology demonstrator at Eurosatory 2024 in Paris, was presented with a remote weapon station from Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA), armed with a 30 mm automatic cannon from France’s KNDS France and a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun. Subsequently, a prototype fitted with a weapon station armed with a 20 mm NC621 cannon from KNDS France was presented in March last year at Arctic Event 2025 in northern Lapland. Following its rebranding as TRACKX, an infantry carrier variant armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun was shown at DSEI.

As a reminder, the vehicle has a crew of two: commander and driver. The troop compartment accommodates 10 soldiers, who dismount through rear troop doors. During initial trials, according to information released by the manufacturer last year, the vehicle achieved an impressive top speed of 88 km/h on a paved road. Its declared combat weight is around 15 tonnes, including a payload of 3.5 tonnes. It can cross 2 m-wide anti-tank ditches and climb gradients of 60%. It is also amphibious and can cross bodies of water, where propulsion is provided by the movement of its tracks, reaching a maximum speed of up to 4 km/h.

The vehicle is fitted with a welded steel hull, while the manufacturer can implement various add-on armor packages to improve survivability. No details have been disclosed regarding the powerpack or suspension, although at the earlier DSEI 2023 exhibition in London it was stated that the vehicle would feature a hybrid drive system for silent running.
