Eurosatory 2026: Patria and RENK unveil TRACKX UGV unmanned vehicle concept

At Eurosatory 2026, taking place in Paris on June 15–19, Finland’s Patria Oyj and Germany’s RENK Group unveiled a next-generation unmanned ground vehicle concept based on the TRACKX platform.

During the 29th edition of Eurosatory 2026, the international defense industry exhibition organized by Coges Events and taking place on June 15–19 this year at Paris-Nord Villepinte near Paris, Finland’s Patria Oyj and Germany’s RENK Group unveiled a next-generation unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) concept based on the TRACKX multipurpose armored all-terrain vehicle platform, previously known as FAMOUS (Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured Systems) and classified as an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle).

At its own stand, the Finnish company also presented the AMV XP 8×8 wheeled infantry fighting vehicle with the EVPU TURRA 30 turret, as well as a self-propelled mortar mounted on the aforementioned TRACKX chassis (Eurosatory 2026: Patria presents AMV XP with TURRA 30 and TRACKX mortar).

Meanwhile, the unmanned ground vehicle model displayed at RENK’s stand J280 in Hall 6 was fitted with a TRACKX hull equipped with a RENK HSWL 076 automatic transmission and a drive-by-wire control architecture. The companies are jointly demonstrating how advanced drive solutions and modular vehicle platforms can accelerate the transition to remotely controlled and future autonomous land systems.

Patria TRACKX is an exceptional all-terrain armoured tracked vehicle, offering an optimal solution for various applications that demand high mobility standards for military units,” says Patria’s President and CEO Panu Routila. “The war in Ukraine shows what modern and future warfare looks like. Today, unmanned systems are essential and are a battlefield necessity. Patria provides the platform expertise, and RENK digitalized transmission HSWL 076 with drive by wire capability, bringing greater commonality between Patria’s uncrewed and crewed vehicles for end users.”

The future of land operations will depend on digitally enabled, and scalable vehicle architectures,” says Dr. Alexander Sagel, CEO of RENK Group AG. “Together with Patria, we are demonstrating how European defence cooperation can rapidly translate innovation into scalable and future-ready unmanned ground capabilities.

Recent conflicts, and especially the war in Ukraine, have reinforced the importance of unmanned and optionally crewed capabilities in high-intensity operations. NATO armed forces are increasingly seeking solutions that reduce risks to crews while maintaining mobility, protection and mission effectiveness. The jointly developed concept vehicle reflects this operational shift.

TRACKX

The vehicle, developed by a consortium with European funding and first publicly shown as a technology demonstrator at Eurosatory 2024 in Paris, was displayed with a remotely controlled weapon station from Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA), armed with a 30-mm automatic cannon from France’s KNDS France and a coaxial 7.62-mm machine gun. Subsequently, the prototype, fitted with a weapon station armed with a 20-mm NC621 cannon from KNDS France, was shown in March last year at Arctic Event 2025 in northern Lapland. After the rebranding to TRACKX, an infantry carrier variant with a 12.7-mm machine gun was presented at DSEI.

It should be recalled that the vehicle’s crew consists of two soldiers: the commander and driver. The troop compartment accommodates 10 soldiers, who disembark through rear troop doors. During initial trials, according to information released by the manufacturer last year, the vehicle reached an impressive road speed of 88 km/h on a paved road. The declared combat weight is around 15 tonnes, of which 3.5 tonnes is payload. It can cross 2-m-wide anti-tank ditches and climb 60-percent gradients. It is also amphibious and can cross bodies of water, propelled by its tracks, reaching a maximum speed of up to 4 km/h.

The vehicle is equipped with a welded steel hull, and the manufacturer can implement various add-on armor packages to increase survivability. No details have been disclosed about the power pack or suspension, but at the earlier DSEI 2023 exhibition in London it was reported that it would use a hybrid drive for silent-mode operation.
