On Sunday, March 29, 2026, during a patrol carried out by soldiers of the Polish Military Contingent (PKW) UNIFIL in Lebanon, a booby-trap mine exploded near one of the HMMWV vehicles. One of the soldiers was injured. The information was provided by the Armed Forces Operational Command and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

We would like to inform you that on Sunday, March 29 of this year, at approximately 1:10 p.m., during a patrol conducted by soldiers of the Polish Military Contingent UNIFIL on the route from post 6-50 to base 2-45, a booby-trap mine exploded near one of the HMMWV vehicles.
As a result of the incident, a soldier of the Polish Military Contingent UNIFIL in Lebanon was injured. The wounded soldier was immediately transported to the base, where he is receiving specialist medical care. The soldier sustained minor head injuries that are not life-threatening. The injured serviceman is a non-commissioned officer of the 12th Mechanized Brigade.
The soldier’s family has been informed of the incident. All participants in the patrol have been provided with psychological support.
The security situation in the area where the Polish Military Contingent UNIFIL is carrying out its tasks is being monitored on an ongoing basis, and all activities are conducted in close coordination with the UN mission command. In response to threats, additional security procedures and protective measures are implemented each time in order to minimize the risk to soldiers carrying out operational tasks.
The safety of soldiers and personnel of the Polish Military Contingents remains the highest priority of the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces.

During the movement of a military vehicle carrying a patrol of Polish soldiers of the Polish Military Contingent UNIFIL, a booby-trap mine exploded. Our soldier sustained minor injuries and was immediately provided with medical care. His injuries are not life-threatening. Our soldiers are carrying out activities connected with the UN mission’s mandate. At all times, in view of the situation in the Middle East, they are observing the highest safety measures.

Since October 11, 2025, soldiers of the 2nd Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 12th Mechanized Brigade, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Maciej Szyłkowski, have been stationed in Lebanon as part of the 12th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent UNIFIL.
Meanwhile, on Friday, March 27 of this year, the official farewell ceremony for the 13th rotation took place at the Brigade’s barracks in Stargard. Its core consists of nearly 200 soldiers from the 3rd Motorized Infantry Battalion under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Damian Gronek. They will replace their colleagues from the 2nd Battalion at the beginning of April. In addition to the 12th Mechanized Brigade, the contingent also includes soldiers from across the entire 12th Szczecin Mechanized Division and other units of the Polish Armed Forces, as well as a component of Hungarian soldiers.
