On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) announced that earlier this month, its subsidiary Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów signed a contract for the delivery of LMC light infantry mortars, Alex .338 sniper rifles, and WKW-50 large-caliber designated marksman rifles, along with ammunition, to one of the countries in Central–East Africa.

“The export contract concluded by PGZ confirms the growing trust of international markets in mature solutions that have been proven under real operational conditions, advantages that carry more weight than catalog declarations. The African client was seeking reliability, simplicity, and high effectiveness, qualities that have defined the weapon systems developed by Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów for years,” emphasized Marcin Idzik, Vice President of the Management Board of PGZ responsible for sales activities within the Group.
A key advantage of the Tarnów mortar systems, distinguishing them from competing solutions, is their positive verification under real combat conditions in Ukraine, where they demonstrated high effectiveness, durability, and suitability for intensive military operations. Experience and feedback gathered from the actual battlefield have translated into high evaluations of the system by operators and users, contributing to growing interest in this equipment from other foreign customers.
An integral part of the contract includes deliveries of designated marksman rifles and large-caliber designated marksman rifles.
Following the successful delivery of MSBS Grot carbines equipped with modern DCM-1 and LDK-4 sights to one of the countries in Central–East Africa, this marks another contract concluded by PGZ on the African market. It represents an important step in strengthening the presence of the Polish defense industry on the continent and confirms the effective implementation of PGZ’s export strategy. The new order opens opportunities for further expanding cooperation and reinforcing the Group’s position as one of the leading suppliers of small arms and support systems in the region (Another contract for the supply of MSBS Grot rifles to Africa).
The Alex .338 Lapua Magnum is a sniper rifle characterized by very high precision, shooting stability, and simple, intuitive operation. The muzzle brake used in its design reduces recoil by nearly 60%, significantly improving weapon control, shortening target reacquisition time, and increasing operator comfort during prolonged missions.
The WKW-50 large-caliber sniper rifle is a heavy 12.7×99 mm NATO rifle intended for missions requiring maximum effectiveness and impact. The rifle is characterized by high precision, reliability, and an effective recoil reduction system, features valued by its users. Thanks to the ammunition used and its high kinetic energy, the rifle can also be employed to neutralize lightly armored vehicles and engage low-flying targets.

The 60.7 mm LMC light infantry mortar has a maximum range of approximately 1,300 meters. The use of an integrated digital sight enables precise determination of the distance to the target and rapid input of firing parameters, ensuring efficient and repeatable direct fire. The design stands out for its ammunition versatility, high mobility, short deployment time, and exceptional durability.
LMC

Rifles manufactured in Tarnów are already in service with the Polish Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where they are valued as precise and reliable fire support systems. The LMC Light Infantry Mortar, the latest design developed by specialists in Tarnów, is making its debut with armed forces on the African continent, confirming the growing position of Polish defense technologies on international markets (ZM Tarnów Secures Contract for Technical Equipment for Small Arms, Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów Increases Weapons Production for the Needs of the Polish Armed Forces, Polish RGP-40 grenade launcher in service with the Ukrainian army)
