During the meeting, matters concerning individual companies within the PGZ Group were discussed. The participants also talked about the prospects, risks, and potential benefits for the Polish Defense Industry resulting from the implementation of the SAFE program.
In addition to the members of the National Board of ZZSO, the meeting was also attended by the Chairs of the Company-Level Union Boards from companies consolidated within the Polish Armaments Group.
Employees of the Polish Defense Industry see SAFE as having potential for the development of the defense sector. The transparent implementation of the SAFE program represents an opportunity for the long-term growth of Polish defense companies, the Defense Sector Trade Union indicates.
The Defense Sector Trade Union addressed a letter to the President of the Management Board of PGZ, Adam Leszkiewicz, in which it refers to the ongoing public debate about SAFE. This is another important voice from the defense sector – following the Joint Position of the Polish defense industry on the EU SAFE mechanism.
Full text of the letter:
“On March 4, 2026, a meeting of the National Board of the Defense Sector Trade Union was held, during which the chairs of the company-level trade union organizations affiliated with ZZSO discussed the prospects, risks, and potential benefits arising from the implementation of the SAFE program.
The participants of the meeting agreed that the SAFE program represents a unique opportunity to significantly and rapidly increase the flow of funds to the Polish Defense Industry, while at the same time calling for a thorough analysis of all doubts and questions that have emerged in the public sphere.
In the opinion of the National Board of ZZSO, the transparent implementation of the SAFE program is an opportunity for the long-term development of Polish defense companies.
Defense Sector Trade Union – National Board”
Founded in 2014, the Defense Sector Trade Union currently brings together organizations from Military Repair and Production Enterprises that were transferred to the Polish Armaments Group, as well as other enterprises for which the Minister of National Defence exercises ownership supervision. Organizations representing members of the Military Health Service (hospitals, clinics, and the Military Center for Preventive Medicine), Military Research Institutes, WAM Holiday Centers, and the Military Property Agency have also joined the new union. Organizations from military budgetary units (covered by the Multi-Enterprise Collective Labor Agreement) have also become members.
ZZSO is a strong representation of the defense industry consolidated within the Polish Armaments Group and cooperates with state institutions responsible for national defense. Its guiding principle is a shared perspective of working people in support of state security, applied through the experience and responsibility of the members and employees of the affiliated enterprises. The foundation of ZZSO is concern for the future and development of the enterprises carrying out tasks that strengthen the defense capabilities of the State.
