Europe is building a ballistic missile defense shield – so far without Poland. The condition set by the Polish Prime Minister for joining the initiative is clear: Polish companies must present a viable industrial offer. Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna has responded by declaring its readiness to immediately begin talks with the government and state-owned companies on developing such a proposal.

„The Prime Minister made it clear: we need proposals from Polish companies. Our response is this: we are ready to sit down at the table—with the Ministry of National Defense, the Armaments Agency, and the Polish Armaments Group—even tomorrow. Poland cannot watch the construction of the European missile defense shield from the sidelines. “Our investments in solid propellants, base bleed systems, and our own warheads were made precisely so that Polish industry could make a real, productive contribution to Europe’s security,” says Adam Januszko, CEO of Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna.
On July 13 in Paris, nine European countries and Ukraine announced the establishment of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition, an initiative expected to shape Europe’s missile defense architecture for decades. Its foundation is industrial: a shared production base, joint research, and lessons learned from the war in Ukraine. Poland is not among the founding members. However, the coalition remains open, and the Polish Prime Minister has stated unequivocally that Poland will join if Polish companies prepare a viable industrial proposal.
NPGM is already capable of helping to develop such a proposal. The Group’s investment program, underway since 2022 and one of the largest private-sector projects in Poland’s defense industry, covers capabilities that closely match the needs of the European missile effector supply chain:
- Solid-propellant technology – the Group is developing capabilities in solid rocket propellants, which form the basis of propulsion systems used in modern interceptor missiles;
- Base-bleed units – base-bleed assemblies developed by the Group and currently being introduced into production, which are essential for long-range ammunition;
- Proprietary warheads – warhead designs developed in cooperation with Polish military research institutes, supported by comprehensive capabilities for explosive filling, pressing, and prefabrication;
- Industrial production and research base – a 155 mm ammunition plant under construction, with a planned capacity of three production lines, as well as an in-house research and development center, a test range, and ISO 9001 and AQAP 2110 certifications.
These capabilities make NPGM a natural partner both for Polish state-owned companies and for European defense groups involved in the coalition’s work.
Importantly, the Group would not be starting from scratch. NPGM is already participating in similar projects being carried out by international industrial consortia. It therefore has practical, proven experience of operating within multinational cooperation frameworks, from common technical requirements to quality standards and security-of-supply arrangements.
NPGM emphasizes that the objective is to develop a national proposal jointly with state-owned and private entities, rather than to compete with the Wisła, Narew, or Pilica+ programs. The capabilities of Poland’s state-owned defense industry are currently fully committed to key modernization programs for the Polish Armed Forces. This is precisely why private-sector participation is essential if a credible Polish proposal is to be developed quickly.
The Group has declared its readiness to begin working-level talks immediately and to provide prospective partners with detailed information on the progress of its investment and production projects.
