On Friday, February 6, 2026, Military Automotive Works (Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne, WZM), part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), announced the completion of the renovation of nearly 20,000 square meters of production hall space for the Abrams Regional Competence Center.
As part of the renovation, the following work was carried out, among other upgrades:
- thermal modernization of the facility,
- replacement of the flooring,
- refurbishment of staff and social areas,
- comprehensive replacement of installations.
Four 50-ton overhead cranes were also modernized. Two of them, operating in tandem, ensure the ability to transport tanks within the hall.
Additionally, further renovation work was conducted in the facility to enhance safety inside the hall.
The next stage for WZM will involve beginning work on the first vehicles and carrying out the initial maintenance services.
The construction of the Abrams Regional Competence Center was first announced on June 23, 2023, when a Teaming Agreement was signed between the Polish Armaments Group and General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS). Its operations were officially inaugurated on February 20, 2024.
