On Friday, January 30, 2026, the Polish Armed Forces General Command (DG RSZ) announced on social media that soldiers of the 3rd Engineer Regiment named after Gen. Karol Sierakowski had begun training on new PFM (Pont Flottant Motorisé) Motorized Floating Bridge sets acquired under the Daglezja-P program.
“Combat engineers are training on new equipment. PFM enters the game! Training is under way for soldiers of the 3rd Engineer Regiment in the operation of the new PFM Motorized Floating Bridge set. At the 3rd Regional Logistics Base, pontoon troops are gaining skills in the use of the equipment as well as in performing maintenance and repairs of the newly introduced system. The PFM set, proven by allies from France and Italy, is a key element of the modernization of Poland’s engineer forces. Its parameters allow for the safe transport of the heaviest equipment in the Polish Armed Forces, including Abrams, Leopard, and K2 tanks,” according to a short press release accompanied by three photographs.
By way of reminder, a framework agreement for the delivery of PFM Motorized Floating Bridge sets was signed on June 15, 2022. The first implementing contract was concluded on August 29, 2022. The value of the contract amounted to approximately 300 million PLN gross and covers the delivery in 2025 of two complete pontoon bridge sets along with a training package and the preparation of technical documentation.
A contract worth more than 52 million PLN for the first batch of 24 Jelcz C662D.43 tractor units between Jelcz, a company within the Polish Armaments Group, and CNIM Systèmes Industriels was signed on July 18, 2023.
On February 2, 2024, the Armament Agency signed a second implementing contract covering seven sets of PFM Motorized Floating Bridge systems along with a training package, worth approximately 1.2 billion PLN gross, with deliveries scheduled for 2026–2029.
PFM Motorized Floating Bridge sets enable the construction of crossings over wide water obstacles. A single Motorized Floating Bridge set allows for the construction of a 100-meter bridge or two ferries, with a load capacity of not less than MLC 70 for tracked vehicles and MLC 96 for wheeled vehicles. The set includes, among other items: 12 transport sets consisting of a Jelcz C662D.43 tractor unit and semitrailer, eight Floating Bridge blocks with propulsion engines, four access ramps, as well as equipment, tools, and devices to secure the construction, operation, maintenance, and servicing of the crossing.
Once all deliveries envisaged under both the first and second implementing contracts are completed, the Polish Armed Forces will have the capability to build up to 900 meters of bridges.
Daglezja-P
In May 2016, the then Armaments Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defence began a market analysis concerning the acquisition of new Motorized Floating Bridge sets to replace the PP-64 Wstęga systems that had been in service with the Polish Armed Forces since 1966. These sets, transported on Star 266 AP and Star 266 BP trucks (and based on the Soviet PMP Floating Bridge), were intended for Leopard 2A5 and 2PL tanks with a load capacity of 63.5 tons. At the time, positive responses were submitted by BAE Systems, CEFA SAS, CNIM, KABE, IMS-Griffin, and Monrex.
On December 19, 2018, the Armaments Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defence launched a tender procedure for the acquisition of 10 Motorized Floating Bridge sets (seven under the base order and three as an option). On March 14, 2019, three bidders submitted offers: the French company Constructions Industrielles de la Méditerranée (CNIM); a consortium of Polish companies H. Cegielski-Poznań (HCP) and WB Electronics together with France’s CEFA SAS; and the Polish company Griffin Group Defence, representing General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS). However, on August 29, 2019, the procedure was canceled due to limited financial resources.
On January 10, 2020, the Armaments Inspectorate initiated a second procedure in this matter, this time without specifying the number of sets to be ordered. This tender, however, was successfully concluded. Two offers were evaluated: one from the consortium of H. Cegielski-Poznań, CEFA SAS, and PGZ, valued at 950.5 million PLN gross, and one from CNIM, valued at 699 million PLN gross.
