On Monday, December 29, 2025, the Research and Development Center for Mechanical Equipment OBRUM, part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), announced on social media the delivery of another batch of MS-20 Daglezja accompanying bridges to the Polish Armed Forces.
Let us recall that between 2025 and 2028, OBRUM is to deliver 43 MS-20 Daglezja accompanying bridges to the Polish Armed Forces, in accordance with a contract worth approximately 767 million PLN gross, signed on October 11, 2023. In the second half of 2025, the company also delivered procedural simulators for training in bridge operation.
At the same time as carrying out the deliveries, OBRUM introduced modifications to the MS-20 bridges, adapting them to the latest operational requirements. The modernization program included, among other things, improvements to the control systems of the actuator assemblies, increasing the reliability and functionality of the equipment. Meanwhile, on March 21, 2025, it was reported that the PM-20 span of the Daglezja bridge had received certification for an increased load capacity to the MLC 85/133 level.
The MS-20 Daglezja-S is an accompanying bridge mounted on a wheeled vehicle chassis. The system consists of a Jelcz C662D.43 6×6 tractor unit, a hydraulically driven 6×6 transport semitrailer, a bridge-laying mechanism, and a PM-20 bridge span. It enables crossings over water or terrain obstacles up to 20 meters wide. The total weight of the MS-20 accompanying bridge is 47.9 metric tons, and its maximum speed on paved roads is 80 km/h. The system is operated by only two soldiers, a driver and an operator.
The PM-20 span is carried on a dedicated transport semitrailer. The width of the span is adjustable and measures 3 meters in the transport position on the semitrailer and 4 meters in the operational position over the obstacle. The length of the span in the folded configuration is 12.5 m, and when deployed with approach ramps it reaches 25.5 m. The time required to deploy and recover the span is less than 30 minutes to achieve full crossing readiness.
To date, the Polish Armed Forces have operated 12 MS-20 Daglezja mobile bridges (the size of the newly delivered batch has not been disclosed, and four units can be counted in the published photographs – editor’s note). The prototypes were developed by OBRUM between 2005 and 2010. Production began two years later in cooperation with Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar-Łabędy, with the delivery of two systems in December of the same year. Another ten systems, ordered under a contract worth 70.68 million PLN gross, were procured on March 4, 2015. The deliveries, delayed, were completed in August 2017. The bridges were assigned to units in Brzeg, Krosno Odrzańskie, Stargard, Chełmno, and Nisko.
On October 31, 2018, the then Armament Inspectorate (now the Armaments Agency) launched a procurement procedure for the delivery of another batch of 10 MS-20 bridges, but the procedure was canceled on September 9, 2019. On November 17, 2021, OBRUM received a contract worth 2.5 million PLN from the 4th Regional Logistics Base in Wrocław for MS-20 maintenance.
Four MS-20S bridges intended for export were delivered in May 2021 to an undisclosed foreign customer, which, as recently revealed through photographic material, turned out to be Vietnam.
