On Friday, May 30, 2025, the State Treasury – Armament Agency signed a contract worth approximately 150 million PLN gross with Mesko, a company based in Skarżysko-Kamienna and part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), for the delivery of thousands of 120 mm rounds to the Polish Armed Forces. These rounds are equipped with Armour-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding-Sabot Tracer (APFSDS-T) projectiles.

The contract was signed at the headquarters of the Armament Agency at 1/7 Królewska Street in Warsaw by Colonel Robert Frommholz, Deputy Head of the Armament Agency, and Renata Gruszczyńska, President of the Management Board of Mesko. The delivery of the aforementioned munitions is scheduled for the years 2026–2027.

The APFSDS-T fixed rounds produced by Mesko, intended for tanks in service with the Polish Armed Forces, are used to destroy armored targets at distances of several kilometers. The projectile weighs approximately 7.3 kg, and the propellant charge about 8.4 kg. It is equipped with a GUW-7-120 electric primer, and the round’s muzzle velocity is 1,670 m/s.
It is designed for firing from the 120 mm Rheinmetall Rh-120/L44 tank gun used in Leopard 2 tanks and is expected to be compatible with the M1 Abrams, which is equipped with M256 guns that fire 120×570 mm ammunition compliant with NATO standard STANAG 4385.
