On Tuesday, 2 September 2025, the opening day of the 33rd International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO in Kielce, Hanwha Aerospace and the WB Group signed a groundbreaking agreement to establish the Polish-Korean joint venture Hanwha WB Advanced System, whose purpose is the local production of CGR-080 guided rockets (with a range of approx. 80 km) for the Homar-K multiple rocket launcher system operated by the Polish Armed Forces.

The new company will implement a phased technology-transfer program based on a certified quality-management system and a comprehensive employee training framework. Initial production batches will be launched gradually, with the target production capability expected to be reached before the end of 2028.
The agreement was signed by Jaeil Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, and Piotr Wojciechowski, President of the WB Group. The ceremony was attended by Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Minister and Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence Paweł Bejda, and the head of the Armament Agency, Brig. Gen. Artur Kuptel. South Korea was represented by Deputy Minister of National Defense Hyunki Cho and Deputy Minister Guckcheol Bang from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA).
“This is undoubtedly the most important event of this year’s MSPO. We are gaining the capability to produce rockets for the Homar-K launchers, this is a remarkable moment. We are becoming increasingly industrially independent. We are not only purchasing weapons but also bringing their production to Poland,” Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said during today’s ceremony.
Hanwha Aerospace President Jaeil Son added:
“This partnership will enable the production in Poland of rockets for the Chunmoo system, known here as Homar-K, which is being introduced into service with the Polish Armed Forces and localized in cooperation with Polish industry. Hanwha WB Advanced System will create the opportunity to jointly develop next-generation munitions, meeting Poland’s needs while simultaneously building export capabilities for allied countries. This is a genuine investment in Poland, in people, technology, and the security of Europe.”
“Building a rocket-munitions manufacturing plant is a very serious investment – the first of its kind in Poland. Its purpose is to enhance security by ensuring that missiles will be produced domestically. The ammunition will be manufactured entirely in Poland, involving not only the WB Group but also numerous local companies acting as subcontractors,” said Piotr Wojciechowski, President of the WB Group.
The facility is expected to employ about 250 highly qualified specialists in Poland and to develop a pathway for new types of rockets tailored to the future needs of the Polish Armed Forces and allied nations, fully in line with national defense-procurement regulations and the export-control framework of the Republic of Korea.
Yesterday’s agreement is the result of a year of joint work by both companies:
- 4 September 2024, during MSPO 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on local production in Poland was signed;
- 2 October 2024, during the KADEX (Korea Army International Defense Industry Exhibition), an agreement between WB Electronics and Hanwha Aerospace regarding rocket-munitions production in Poland was concluded;
- 15 April this year, a document outlining the key terms for establishing and operating the joint-venture company was signed.
