At the PGZ booth at this year’s Eurosatory 2024 exhibition, BZE Belma, a company belonging to the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), is presenting several of its products. Among them are MN-123 scatterable mines used by the Baobab-K system (Polish Armaments Group at Eurosatory 2024).

The mines, with a diameter of 180 mm and a height of 90 mm, weigh 3.7 kg. They can be equipped with EFP (Explosively Formed Penetrator) charges and are capable of penetrating armor up to 60 mm thick. The explosion can be initiated by a magnetic, delayed, or immediate fuze. Before being deployed, the mine can be programmed to explode at a desired moment – either after a specified time following the activation of the fuse or after a specific number of vehicles have passed over it. In accordance with international conventions, MN-123 mines are subject to neutralization after a certain period. Neutralization is achieved either by detonation or by disabling the ability to detonate the explosive charge.

MN-123 mines are placed in special cassettes, five per cassette. Each launcher holds 20 containers. The launchers form the basis of the Kroton scatterable mine-laying system on a tracked chassis and the Baobab-K on a wheeled chassis – both developed by Huta Stalowa Wola. The scatterable mine-laying systems are equipped with software that allows for the optimal planning of mine dispersion according to the task. This software is provided by Arex, a company belonging to the WB Group (Products of PGZ and the WB Group in the EDIRPA program).
