On Monday, April 27, 2026, Ukrainian blogger Andrii Kharuk, known by the pseudonym atez72, was the first to report that the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had become a user of GTP 4×4 light armored vehicles, manufactured by Finnish company Sisu Auto.

According to the author, at least one vehicle has been delivered to the 8th Separate Special Purpose Regiment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Khmelnytskyi, also known as the Prince Iziaslav Mstyslavych Separate Special Operations Center West, military unit A0553.
He emphasized the lack of any previous information about planned deliveries, although given that the recipient is the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this should not come as a surprise. Nevertheless, neither of the current two users of these vehicles, Sweden and Finland, had declared equipment donations to Ukraine in the form of GTP 4×4 vehicles. However, the author himself wrote on his blog: “Both of these countries are, of course, interested in testing their new armored vehicles in combat conditions – so they could donate several of them to us…” A direct purchase from the manufacturer may, of course, also be possible.
GTP 4×4
The GTP 4×4 has a modular design. Its combat weight is 16,500 kg, while its payload is 5,000 kg. It is 6,000 mm long, 2,500 mm wide, and 2,550 mm high. The wheelbase is 3,800 mm and ground clearance is 400 mm. The crew consists of two soldiers, while the maximum number of dismounts is eight. The vehicle can overcome terrain obstacles with approach and departure angles of up to 45 degrees and a side slope of up to 37 degrees. It can ford water up to 1,200 mm deep and climb gradients of 60%. Both ballistic and mine protection are said to meet the STANAG 4569 standard, although the level has not been specified.
It is worth noting that in mid-November 2019, Sisu Auto presented this second variant with a new six-cylinder, four-stroke Mercedes-Benz OM926 diesel engine developing 243 kW (330 hp), paired with an Allison 3500 automatic transmission and a ZF VG750 transfer case, providing an operational range of more than 700 km. The power-to-weight ratio is 22 hp per metric ton.
The original version of the GTP 4×4 was first unveiled during the international Auto 2018 exhibition in Riga. According to earlier announcements, further variants are to include a technical evacuation and recovery vehicle with a crane, an armored ambulance, and a reconnaissance vehicle.
The GTP 4×4 was initially also selected by the Latvian National Guard (Latvijas Republikas Zemessardze), which was seeking a supplier of 200 armored vehicles, but the purchase was challenged and the tender was restarted. Ultimately, under the international CAVS program, Latvia ordered the larger Patria 6×6 wheeled armored personnel carriers, which are also being procured by Sweden.
Last year, the manufacturer presented two new specialized variants of the GTP 4×4: the TREMOS self-propelled mortar and a version fitted with the Saab Trackfire ARES remote-controlled weapon station. It can also serve as a carrier for the lightweight Giraffe 1X three-dimensional radar systems, of which Ukraine became a user late last year.
