On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, U.S. company Raytheon, part of RTX, announced that it had received an order from Blue Raven Solutions for the delivery of 120 SharpSight multi-domain surveillance radars. This is the largest single order to date for the new system and a key step toward increasing its availability to customers around the world..

Under the contract, Raytheon will manufacture and service the radars, while Blue Raven Solutions, formerly known as Crestwood Technology Group, will focus on global resale and distribution. Together, the companies will provide users with faster and more affordable access to advanced surveillance capabilities in a highly competitive international market.
„This contract is a clear signal of strong global demand for SharpSight and the advanced surveillance capabilities it brings to the fight,” said Dan Theisen, president of Advanced Products and Solutions at Raytheon. „By partnering with Blue Raven, we’re making it easier and more affordable for customers to field this capability at the scale that fits their mission, whether that’s a small fleet or a larger enterprise deployment.”
To meet the expected growth in demand, Raytheon is expanding production capacity and manufacturing radar systems in bulk quantities, which will allow it to increase monthly output and shorten delivery timelines. These initiatives are part of the company’s broader efforts to accelerate production, reduce lead times, and deliver critical capabilities to customers faster and at lower cost.
„We’re excited to partner with Raytheon on SharpSight, to grow its market across a broader range of platforms, fleets and mission profiles,” said Paul Elefonte, Chief Growth Officer at Blue Raven. „This collaboration will help improve accessibility, reduce lead times and maintain price stability, creating a stronger path to field this advanced capability at scale.”

The start of low-rate production of these radars was announced on October 13, 2025. This next-generation radar system, independent of platform type (manned or unmanned) will provide high-altitude, real-time, high-resolution imaging, with the ability to search for and track objects over a wide area for land and maritime surveillance missions, operating day and night in all weather conditions.
SharpSight combines the capabilities of two proven Raytheon radar families – the HISAR (Highly Integrated Synthetic Aperture Radar) synthetic aperture radar and the SeaVue Multi-Role Radar (SVMR) – and can be rapidly integrated with a variety of manned and unmanned systems. Its open architecture enables affordable and rapid upgrades, giving users an advantage over emerging threats.
The SharpSight system was designed for precision and endurance at high altitudes, enabling key missions such as anti-surface warfare, border protection, coastal monitoring, search and rescue, long-range surveillance, and many others.
The radar’s proven detection performance, combined with an Automatic Identification System (AIS), enables it to detect, track, and classify more than 1,000 targets, providing a significant increase in mission utility.
The air-cooled SharpSight radar provides 360-degree azimuth coverage, +5/-15 degrees in elevation, and operates in the X-band with an instrumented range of 320 nautical miles, or 592 km. The radar weighs 129 kg and uses three-phase 400 Hz input power. It can indicate ground moving targets (Ground Moving Target Indicator, GMTI), maritime moving targets (Maritime Moving Target Indicator, MMTI), and airborne moving targets (Airborne Moving Target Indicator, AMTI), operate in high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mode, high-resolution inverse SAR (ISAR) mode, and as a color weather radar.
