On Friday, May 22, 2026, PGZ Stocznia Wojenna and Shiprepair Yard Nauta, both part of Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), signed an agreement for the construction of the GB02 stern block of the hull of the frigate Burza, the second vessel being built under the Miecznik program for the Polish Navy. The agreement was signed by Marcin Ryngwelski, President of the Management Board, and Beata Koniarska, Member of the Management Board of PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, as well as Monika Kozakiewicz, President of the Management Board of Shiprepair Yard Nauta. The ceremony took place at the headquarters of Nauta in Gdynia.

The contract for the construction of the stern block of the second Miecznik-program frigate strengthens cooperation within Polish Armaments Group and confirms the local-content model implemented by the PGZ-Miecznik Consortium, which consists of Polish Armaments Group and PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, under the largest contract in the history of Poland’s shipbuilding industry.
Both shipyards are part of Polish Armaments Group and both are based in Gdynia, giving this cooperation a special character: capabilities concentrated in one city and applied to a single program.
Outsourcing the construction of a block to an external contractor is standard practice in the shipbuilding industry and a deliberate element of PGZ Stocznia Wojenna’s strategy. PGZ SW acts as the prime contractor and integrator of the entire Miecznik program, responsible for the design, technical supervision, and quality of all three frigates at the same time. Engaging specialized partners to carry out specific modules allows the production workload to be optimally distributed and construction schedules to be maintained. A similar model was already applied to the first frigate, Wicher, whose bow block was built by Crist shipyard.

Nauta Shiprepair Yard has many years of experience in construction and repair work on large vessels, as well as an established position as a provider of services to the Polish Navy. Since 2012, it has carried out its main production activities on the site of the former Gdynia Shipyard, using infrastructure that enables it to service the largest vessels entering the Baltic Sea. Its incorporation into Polish Armaments Group in 2014 consolidated its role as an industrial support base for the Polish fleet.
Nauta’s participation in the Miecznik program represents a new type of involvement for the Gdynia-based shipyard: a move from servicing completed vessels to taking part in the construction of a new warship from the ground up. This is a natural direction for the development of capabilities within the Group.
„We are implementing the Miecznik program on schedule and with maximum involvement of Polish industry. Awarding the stern block of Burza to Nauta Shiprepair Yard is another example of how, within Polish Armaments Group, we are building not only ships, but also a lasting network of shipbuilding capabilities. Gdynia is increasingly becoming the center of Poland’s shipbuilding industry, and this gives us double satisfaction,” said Marcin Ryngwelski, President of the Management Board of PGZ Stocznia Wojenna.
„We are proud to have joined the team working on the largest program in the history of the Polish Navy, namely the project to build three multipurpose frigates, codenamed Miecznik. We thank PGZ Stocznia Wojenna for inviting us to participate in this program. Thanks to this cooperation, we will be able to use the synergy between our companies and the complementarity of our infrastructure and human resources. We are part of a team playing in the colors of PGZ Group S.A. for the security of the state,” said Monika Kozakiewicz, President of the Management Board of Nauta Shiprepair Yard.
