On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, the second day of the 33rd International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Targi Kielce, the Łukasiewicz Research Network and the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) signed a strategic partnership agreement aimed at intensifying cooperation in research and development and facilitating the transfer of modern technologies to the Polish defense industry.

The agreement covers joint activities in areas such as autonomous land, sea and air platforms, ballistic protection, special-purpose infrastructure, missile and ammunition technologies, armored and mechanized systems, air defense, cybersecurity, aerospace and space technologies, as well as soldier-protection solutions. The cooperation will be carried out by 22 institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network together with the companies belonging to the Polish Armaments Group.
The Łukasiewicz institutes and PGZ have been cooperating for many years on matters of national defense and security. As a result of this collaboration, systems such as the Piorun Man-Portable Air-Defense System, the new Borsuk Infantry Fighting Vehicle and the Rosomak Armored Personnel Carrier have been developed. PGZ has also expressed interest in new projects by the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Industrial Chemistry and the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Organic Industry concerning the production of nitrocellulose and nitroguanidine, key precursors required for manufacturing ammunition and explosives.
The cooperation under the agreement will be coordinated by a specially appointed Steering Committee composed of representatives from both sides, including experts with backgrounds in science, management and the defense sector.
Close collaboration between the Łukasiewicz research institutes and the defense industry represented by PGZ companies will enable the delivery of further innovative technological solutions needed by the Polish Armed Forces, which may also be offered for export.
