On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the American company Lockheed Martin announced a framework agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to increase annual production of the latest Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) ballistic missiles by fourfold. The agreement builds on a previous five-year contract signed on March 28, 2025, worth 4.937 billion USD for the production and delivery of an additional batch, and together these efforts will quadruple PrSM production capacity.

On March 6 this year, U.S. President Donald Trump held a meeting with the CEOs of seven defense companies: RTX (which has already announced investments), Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, L3Harris Missile Solutions, and Honeywell Aerospace. Following the meeting, he announced an agreement to quadruple the production capacity of these entities in the supply of key missile munitions.
We just concluded a very good meeting with the largest U.S. Defense Manufacturing Companies where we discussed Production and Production Schedules. They have agreed to quadruple Production of the “Exquisite Class” Weaponry in that we want to reach, as rapidly as possible, the highest levels of quantity. Expansion began three months prior to the meeting, and Plants and Production of many of these Weapons are already under way. We have a virtually unlimited supply of Medium and Upper Medium Grade Munitions, which we are using, as an example, in Iran, and recently used in Venezuela. Regardless, however, we have also increased Orders at these levels. The Companies represented were the CEOs of BAE Systems, Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace, L3Harris Missile Solutions, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. The meeting concluded with another meeting scheduled in two months. States all over the Country are bidding for these new Plants. Thank you for your attention to this matter! – President Trump wrote on social media.
Earlier in January, Lockheed Martin announced framework agreements to quadruple production of interceptor missiles for the advanced THAAD missile defense system (January 30) and to triple production of PAC-3 MSE missiles for the MIM-104 Patriot systems (January 8).
Lockheed Martin will now increase production of the latest PrSM Increment 1 ballistic missiles, which made their combat debut against Iran during Operation Epic Fury, launched from the M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) multiple launch rocket system on March 1, with official confirmation issued on March 4.
The PrSM Increment 1 began entering service with U.S. Army units in December 2023. The official range of this version exceeds 400 km, though it is expected to be extended to 700 km (following the expiration of the INF Treaty). Recently, a series of tests has been conducted using both the M142 HIMARS launcher and the upgraded M270A2 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System).

“Lockheed Martin is mobilizing the full might of its industrial and technological power to build the Arsenal of Freedom by dramatically accelerating production of this critical munition, leveraging next-generation technologies to build faster and better.” – says the presss release
The framework agreement for PrSM includes the possibility of negotiating a multi-year contract of up to seven years, subject to congressional approval and future authorization.
“Lockheed Martin delivers the advanced precision fires capabilities the warfighter needs, including the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), which expands deep-strike capability,” said Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and CEO Jim Taiclet. “We are working closely with the Department of War and the U.S. Army to scale production to meet operational demand and ensure the joint force has the capabilities needed to deter and defeat emerging threats.”
Lockheed Martin has more than 10,000 m² (115,000 square feet) of dedicated production space in the United States for PrSM, and the program is currently supported by over 400 employees. To meet growing demand, the company continues to expand its workforce, creating tens of thousands of high-quality jobs in manufacturing, engineering, and skilled trades.
Meanwhile, on March 12, it was reported that the first full test of the PrSM Increment 2 anti-ship ballistic missile, designated LBASM (Land-Based Anti-Ship Missile), had been conducted. At the same time, work is ongoing on the PrSM Increment 4 variant, which will receive a separate designation—LRMF—with a range of up to 1,000 km (previously known as PrSM-ER, for Extended Range). Tests have also been conducted involving launches from a prototype autonomous, unmanned AML rocket launcher. PrSM missiles have been exported only to Australia (a sale to Norway was denied).
