On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the Polish Armed Forces General Command (DG RSZ) and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on social media that, as part of the Polish-Danish exercise Baltic Shield 2026 at the Central Air Force Training Range (CPSP) in Ustka, soldiers from the 1st Missile Brigade conducted live firing with the Homar-K multiple rocket launcher (MLRS) using CGR-080 guided ammunition at a record range of nearly 80 km.

According to the published information, a missile fired from the Polish coast hit a target in the Baltic Sea at a range of 79.6 km, which is close to the maximum nominal value for CGR-080 ammunition. At the same time, Polish M142 HIMARS launchers and Danish PULS (Precise & Universal Launching System) launchers also conducted rocket firing from the Bornholm area.
“Record shots and a real strengthening of deterrence. Polish artillery personnel have reached another milestone. During live firing from the Polish coast, a missile launched from the Homar-K system hit a target at a record range of 79.6 km. At the same time, in the Bornholm area, Polish M142 HIMARS launchers and Danish PULS systems conducted rocket firing as part of Exercise Baltic Shield-26. These are the largest joint maneuvers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and the Kingdom of Denmark since the end of World War II. The joint operations confirm the allies’ full readiness to cooperate and underscore the strategic importance of the Baltic Sea for the security of the region and NATO’s entire eastern flank.”
Polish Armed Forces General Command
“Important news! Today, our artillery personnel fired a record shot from the Polish coast using the Homar-K system at a range of 79 kilometers and 600 meters! This is an extraordinary event for our deterrence system. At the same time, Polish M142 HIMARS systems and Danish PULS systems conducted rocket firing from the Bornholm area. The largest allied exercise to date, codenamed Baltic Shield, between the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and the forces of the Kingdom of Denmark is underway. Cooperation between the two countries shows the enormous strategic importance of the Baltic Sea area for the security of the region and NATO’s eastern flank.”

Hanwha Aerospace Europe commented on the Homar-K MLRS firing:
“We congratulate the Polish artillery personnel on achieving a record result during Exercise Baltic Shield. The effective use of the Homar-K system and CGR-080 missiles once again confirms the growing importance of modern artillery systems for regional security and for strengthening the interoperability of NATO allied forces. It is also an important example of industrial cooperation between Poland and the Republic of Korea and of the consistent development of deterrence capabilities on the Alliance’s eastern flank.”
Earlier, during the night from Saturday to Sunday and on Sunday morning, soldiers of the 6th Airborne Brigade were air-dropped onto Bornholm.
It is worth adding that, in the future, CGR-080 missiles will be produced by Hanwha WB Advanced Systems, a joint venture between WB Group and Hanwha Aerospace, at a planned production facility in Gorzów Wielkopolski.
