The event was hosted by Gostynin Mayor Agnieszka Korajczyk-Szyperska, who emphasized the importance of the project for the city’s development and for strengthening regional security.
After the agreement was signed, remarks were delivered by Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski, Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński, and Gostynin Mayor Agnieszka Korajczyk-Szyperska.
“We are very proud that the military will be in Gostynin, and that these will be missile troops. The 2nd Missile Brigade will have its place here. Very soon, around 800 soldiers will be stationed in this city,” Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said after signing the letter of intent.
“The 2nd Missile Brigade will be stationed here in Gostynin and will build the security of this area. For our government, security is an absolute priority. We are here together with Minister Marcin Kierwiński, with whom our services cooperate on a daily basis – both the military, as well as the Police, Border Guard, Fire Service, and all services responsible for the security of the state – as never before in the history of our Homeland. (…) The decision I made in March of this year to establish and locate the 2nd Missile Brigade in two places, in Łowicz and in Gostynin, is the best proof of this. This is a major investment, bringing not only posts, positions, the opportunity to enlist in the army and serve the Republic of Poland, but also equipment with the best hardware,” the head of the Ministry of National Defense said after signing the document.
“Chunmoo launchers will come here to Gostynin, already assembled 70%, perhaps even 80%, in Poland, with missile production that will take place in Poland. Under the Homar-K program, we are Polonizing multiple-launch rocket systems for the defense of the Republic of Poland. We are Polonizing, which means we are also investing in the Polish defense industry. This shows how comprehensive the efforts for security are, and how important this is also for this area. (…) It is also a fundamental investment in a stable place to serve, but also to work, because in addition to soldiers there will also be civilian military employees. This is a great opportunity,” Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz added.
Since 2023, the Polish Armed Forces have been rebuilding their missile forces. The 2nd Missile Brigade is being established under the 2023–2025 Polish Armed Forces Reinforcement Package and will be organized around two main locations: Łowicz and Gostynin. Earlier, under the leadership of Mariusz Błaszczak, the 1st Missile Brigade was formed and equipped with Homar-A MLRS launchers, namely M142 HIMARS systems.
“This is a historic day for Gostynin, for all of northern Mazovia. (…) A historic day that shows trends in building security – security not only at the major geopolitical and strategic level, but also security addressed to ordinary people,” Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński emphasized.
The meeting concluded with a press conference attended by government representatives and local authorities.
The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of National Defense leadership, including Col. Andrzej Kupis, Chief of the Missile and Artillery Forces Directorate, as well as representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Member of the Sejm Elżbieta Gapińska, and Płock County Head Sylwester Ziemkiewicz. Local government officials from the Municipality of Gostynin and Gostynin County were also present.
The signed document sets out the framework for cooperation between the parties and confirms Gostynin’s strategic importance in the national security system.
