The signed contracts cover the delivery of Baobab-G Scattered Mine Laying Vehicles, Universal Containerized Maintenance and Repair Workshops, Containerized Diagnostic and Repair Facilities, and Telecommunications Nodes.
The first two contracts were concluded between the State Treasury – the Armament Agency and Huta Stalowa Wola. The contract for Baobab-G Scattered Mine Laying Vehicles provides for the development and delivery of the vehicles starting in 2029, for a value of approximately 1 billion PLN gross, with an option, together with training and logistics packages, a set of spare parts, and the delivery of a dedicated simulator.
The second contract concerns deliveries, starting in 2028, of several hundred Universal Containerized Maintenance and Repair Workshops (UKWO-N) as well as Containerized Diagnostic and Repair Facilities, for a value of approximately 1 billion PLN gross, with an option (the Ministry of National Defense orders UKWO-N workshops).
The third agreement, signed with a consortium composed of Teldat (leader) and Siltec (member), covers the delivery from 2027 of 133 Telecommunications Nodes, including 101 containerized versions and 32 portable ones. The value of the contract is approximately 1.7 billion PLN gross, with an option.
The Baobab-G Scattered Mine Laying Vehicle is intended to carry out engineering support tasks in the form of deploying scatterable minefields. It uses MN-123 anti-tank mines, which are launched in predetermined directions relative to the vehicle’s direction of movement. This allows the creation of anti-tank barriers of varying densities, capable of disabling and destroying different types of enemy military vehicles.
The system consists of six mine-launcher modules mounted on the chassis of the Krab self-propelled howitzer. The crew comprises two soldiers. Passive protection of the vehicle is provided by the OBRA self-defense system.
The Baobab-G can carry a total of up to 600 MN-123 anti-tank mines (in immediate-action and delayed-action variants with a programmable self-destruct option). Each launcher is equipped with 20 barrels, each holding five mines. The mine-laying process can be fully automated, with an option for manual control by the system operator. During minefield deployment, the depth of the mined area corresponds to the required mine density. The parameters and coordinates of the deployed minefield are recorded on digital maps.
Universal Containerized Maintenance and Repair Workshops and Containerized Diagnostic and Repair Facilities are intended for use by technical workshops to carry out technical support and sustainment tasks (maintenance and repair of equipment) for the land component on the modern battlefield. These tasks include the inspection and repair of components, assemblies, and devices, based on specialized workshop equipment.
Telecommunications Nodes are used to provide telecommunications and IT support for command posts of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland from battalion to division level. They ensure the proper functioning of the backbone telecommunications and IT infrastructure and enable the integration of command-and-control elements into the integrated telecommunications and IT infrastructure of the Polish Armed Forces or civilian telecommunications operators in peacetime (enabling training and military exercises), during crises (including the execution of crisis-response tasks jointly with non-military systems), and during full-scale war.
