At present, the Gdańsk-based shipyard is carrying out two programs for the Polish Navy: the construction of three Project 258 Kormoran II mine countermeasure vessels, and, under a contract from Saab, the construction of two Project 107 signals intelligence ships as part of the program codenamed Delfin.

The three Project 258 mine countermeasure vessels form the second batch intended for service with the 12th Woliński Minesweeper Squadron of the 8th Coastal Defence Flotilla, based in Świnoujście. The ships, currently at different stages of construction, are: 258/4 Jaskółka (604), 258/5 Rybitwa (605), and 258/6 Czajka (606). All three have already been launched, on June 26, 2024; March 19, 2025; and December 11, 2025, respectively. The most advanced vessel in the series is Jaskółka, which is presently undergoing moored shipyard trials and is being prepared to enter the next phase of testing at sea. The other two units, Rybitwa and Czajka, are currently being fitted out. According to the schedule, Jaskółka is expected to be ready for handover later this year, while Rybitwa and Czajka are planned to be completed next year.
The two remaining Project 258 vessels, Rybitwa (605) and Czajka (606), are currently being fitted out. According to the plan, both are to be completed next year.
The two Project 107 signals intelligence ships are also already afloat. The first, 107/1, named Jerzy Różycki (261), was launched on July 1, 2025. Yesterday, on January 28, 2026, the second vessel, 107/2, was moved out of the dry dock; it had been christened two weeks earlier, on January 14, 2026, and given the name Henryk Zygalski (264). Both ships, now moored at the shipyard quay, will undergo fitting-out. After Remontowa Shipbuilding completes its scope of work, they will be equipped with specialized reconnaissance systems by the contract executor, Saab. It is currently assumed that the first unit will be delivered to the customer in the second half of 2027, with the second following in 2028. The delivery of both new vessels will enable the start of the phase-out of the Project 863 ships currently operated within the Reconnaissance Ships Group: ORP Nawigator (262) and ORP Hydrograf (263).

As the above shows, between 2026 and 2028, Remontowa Shipbuilding will gradually complete its existing contracts for the Polish Navy. No additional agreements have been signed to date, and if this situation does not change, 2028 will, for now, mark the end of the shipyard’s defense production. However, there are several long-planned naval programs in which Remontowa Shipbuilding could potentially participate. One of them is the planned construction of one or two hydrographic vessels.
Both Project 107 signals intelligence ships are now afloat. The second of them, Henryk Zygalski (264), is expected to enter service in 2028. The delivery of both new units will make it possible to begin the withdrawal of the currently operated Project 863 vessels: ORP Nawigator (262) and ORP Hydrograf (263)
At present, the Polish Navy operates two hydrographic vessels: ORP Arctowski (265) and ORP Heweliusz (266). Both Project 874 ships have been in service for more than 43 years – the Polish naval ensign was raised on each on November 27, 1982. Project 874 was a development of the earlier Project 872, which also served as the basis for two B91-type vessels built for maritime authorities.
Why do we mention this? Because both B91 vessels, Zodiak and Planeta, entered service in 1982 and 1983, virtually in parallel with Arctowski and Heweliusz. However, more than five years ago they completed their service with the maritime authorities. They were replaced by two new Project B618 vessels, Zodiak II and Planeta I, on which the ensign was raised on September 25 and November 14, 2020, respectively. Both ships were built by Remontowa Shipbuilding, and the entire program was carried out between March 5, 2018 (the contract signing date) and October 30, 2020, when the second unit was delivered, lasting just over 2.5 years. As can be seen, the Gdańsk shipyard has recent experience in building vessels of this type, and it appears that if a program to build a hydrographic ship or ships for the Polish Navy is launched, Remontowa Shipbuilding would have a strong chance of securing such an order. This would extend the shipyard’s participation in the current naval modernization process for additional years. It is also worth recalling that in the past, when it operated as Stocznia Północna im. Bohaterów Westerplatte, it was among the largest suppliers of ships to the Polish Navy.
