According to the published information, the government in Kyiv requested the potential acquisition of Class IX spare parts to support vehicles and weapon systems supplied from U.S. Department of Defense stocks, as well as other related elements of logistics and program support. The principal contractors will be designated at a later date.
As stated in the justification, Ukraine urgently needs to strengthen its local capabilities for maintaining vehicles and weapon systems in order to sustain high operational readiness rates. The spare parts will directly contribute to increased battlefield effectiveness through improved overall readiness levels, enhanced logistics, and reduced financial burdens thanks to a more resilient and faster repair cycle.
The specific vehicles and weapon systems covered by the spare parts were not disclosed. Under U.S. Army logistics nomenclature, Class IX spare parts refer to repair and maintenance components—major assemblies, repair parts, and consumable items for supplied systems. These may include parts for M1A1SA-UKR Abrams main battle tanks, M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA infantry fighting vehicles, ICV Stryker wheeled armored vehicles, M777 and M109 self-propelled howitzers, M142 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, HMMWV utility vehicles, recovery vehicles, and others.
It is worth noting that last year the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump approved the sale of the following packages:
- November 18, 2025 – support and modernization package for MIM-104 Patriot air and missile defense systems valued at 105 million USD;
- September 16, 2025 – two military assistance packages worth 500 million USD each;
