The contract is valued at “approximately 1 billion PLN.” In addition to design work, it includes the delivery of an undisclosed number of Baobab-G vehicles, as well as spare parts, personnel training, and a simulator. According to the Armament Agency, the decision to conclude the contract was made after an analysis of data obtained during preliminary market consultations conducted in the first half of 2025. Interest in the program, which was announced at the beginning of 2025, was expressed by Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. and Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Belma S.A. (with regard to scatterable mine-laying components). Both companies are currently cooperating, among other things, on the Baobab-K program, which involves the delivery to the Polish Armed Forces of 24 wheeled scattered mine laying vehicles based on the Jelcz P882.53 8×8 chassis.

According to the Armament Agency, deliveries of the Baobab-G vehicles are scheduled to begin in 2029. The vehicles will be structurally based on the chassis of the Krab self-propelled howitzer. At that point, they will constitute one of the two key pillars of units equipped with scattered mine laying vehicles – earlier, Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. is expected to initiate deliveries of 24 wheeled Baobab-K vehicles.
At present, the Polish Armed Forces operate six tracked Kroton scattered mine-laying vehicles, which were delivered by Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. between 2003 and 2008. It cannot be ruled out that, during the initial period of service, both types of vehicles will complement each other.
The new design is expected to be characterized by the installation of six mine launchers (each intended for 100 anti-tank mines), together with the necessary control and monitoring systems. In addition, the equipment is to include a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, warning, protection, and shielding systems, an automatic control and monitoring system, and a diagnostic system.
