Barracuda Poncho is Saab’s latest product, complementing its existing range of advanced multispectral camouflage solutions in the Barracuda family. The purpose of Barracuda Poncho is to conceal the user from thermal sensors and, in the Arctic version, from ultraviolet sensors, while ensuring freedom of movement that enables fast and quiet operation. Its low weight, just over 1 kg, makes Barracuda Poncho easy to put on, wear, and adjust.
Barracuda Poncho provides visual and thermal protection in various conditions, including woodland, rocky desert, and Arctic environments. Its reversible design allows for day and night configuration on either side, providing enhanced thermal protection at night.
“Barracuda Poncho is our answer to the recent rise in UAV-based surveillance on the battlefield, where a mission can be compromised if the soldier even briefly leaves a camouflaged vehicle or position. Building on the positive response from our Soldier System, the new Barracuda Poncho solution provides an alternative camouflage solution, focusing on wearability while retaining the exceptional multispectral protection,” says Henning Robach, head of Saab’s business unit Barracuda.
The poncho will be presented at Saab’s stand G180 in Hall 6 during the Eurosatory 2026 trade fair in Paris, scheduled for June 15-19 this year.
