Composhield Buoyancy Armor – Protection and Buoyancy
The solution presented at the Pagacz Group stand was designed to combine a high level of ballistic protection with integrated buoyancy for maritime and amphibious platforms. Composhield Buoyancy Armor is intended to allow vehicles to retain full functionality when operating on water, without compromising survivability.
The demonstrator shown below is based on an 8 mm steel backing plate and is intended to provide ballistic protection compliant with Level 3 under the STANAG 4569 standard. Its total thickness is 695.9 mm, with a weight of approximately 60 kg/m².

Adaptation to Operational Requirements
According to the manufacturer, unlike the conventional solutions used to date, Buoyancy Armor can be tailored to provide neutral or positive buoyancy.
This modification capability is intended to allow the package to effectively compensate for the additional weight of the armor on water, minimizing its impact on buoyancy and stability. Depending on customer requirements, the system can also be modified with additional buoyancy materials.
Applications of Composhield Buoyancy Armor
Composhield’s Buoyancy Armor was designed for maritime and amphibious platforms, as well as those used by special operations forces ‒ wherever the ability to float is of key importance. Integrating armor with buoyancy solutions is intended to provide increased protection without the loss of waterborne capabilities.
An important feature of the system is its ability to retain buoyancy even after being hit ‒ the platform is intended to remain afloat after coming under fire.
