Polish weapons will be delivered first and foremost to the Special Operations Regiment. As early as the beginning of next year, in line with official declarations, they are to be used to protect military facilities and critical infrastructure in Belgium. It cannot be ruled out that the first batches of Piorun systems were supplied to the new user from the stockpiles of the Polish Ministry of National Defense.
The Belgian Minister of Defense visited MESKO S.A.’s facilities in May 2025. At that time, a letter of intent was signed, intended to pave the way for the purchase of 40 launch units and up to 300 missiles. In July, the signing of a contract was announced, along with the first declarations that deliveries would begin by the end of the year. Overall, the project is expected to cost approximately 137 million EUR.

The Piorun man-portable air defense systems manufactured by MESKO S.A. are one of the biggest successes of Poland’s domestic defense sector. Following its combat debut in Ukraine in 2022, the system quickly gained international recognition. Among its customers are the United States, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia, Moldova, and Sweden. Potential future customers include, among others, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Malaysia.
During combat operations in Ukraine, soldiers using Polish weapons (supplied under a military assistance program) shot down more than a dozen enemy aircraft.
