On Friday, February 6, 2026, another meeting was held at Military Aviation Works No. 2 (Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 2, WZL-2), part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), with representatives of the South Korean company Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
“We are concluding the week with a productive meeting with the Vice President and representatives of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), whom we had the pleasure of hosting again at our facility. We are very pleased to move to the next stage of arrangements concerning cooperation in the area of FA-50 aircraft support. We thank Korea Aerospace Industries for the visit and the constructive dialogue, which strengthens the foundations of our long-term cooperation,” reads a brief statement published on Facebook.
The cooperation between the two companies concerns FA-50GF Block 10 light combat aircraft, 12 of which are currently operated by the Polish Air Force (with 36 FA-50PL Block 20 aircraft to join them in the future). The previous meeting in Poland took place on July 16, 2025. Earlier, on July 7, 2025, it was reported that the management board of WZL-2 had visited the Republic of Korea as part of a Polish delegation represented by the Ministry of State Assets and the Polish Armaments Group.
On October 18, 2024, WZL-2 hosted a South Korean delegation led by Hyunki Cho, Vice Minister of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) under the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea.
Cooperation Between WZL-2 and KAI
On December 12, 2023, WZL-2 and Korea Aerospace Industries signed an agreement aimed at defining areas of industrial cooperation related to the support program for these aircraft within the Polish Air Force.
Subsequently, on June 20, 2024, a Teaming Agreement was signed between KAI and WZL-2 concerning the implementation of the program, particularly in the areas of comprehensive logistics support, as well as maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modernization.
WZL-2 is one of the largest aviation facilities in Poland and a member of the Polish Armaments Group, the leader of the Polish defense industry. The company provides comprehensive maintenance and modernization services covering both airframes and engines of aircraft operated by the Polish Air Force.
It is worth recalling that on September 16, 2022, Poland ordered 12 FA-50GF Block 10 aircraft for approximately 705 million USD net (3.36 billion PLN net / 4.14 billion PLN gross), which have already been delivered, as well as 36 FA-50PL Block 20 aircraft for 2.3 billion USD net (10.88 billion PLN net / 13.38 billion PLN gross), originally scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2028. According to the latest information from the Armament Agency in January of this year regarding the FA-50PL, approval has finally been obtained for the integration of short-range RTX AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missiles; however, aircraft deliveries have been postponed and are now set to begin in mid-2027 and conclude in early 2029 (Poland: FA-50PL Aircraft with the Latest AIM-9X Sidewinder Missiles, but Delayed).
