On Monday, April 6, a person noticed a middle-aged man in Kowalów who was allegedly photographing railway infrastructure equipment. The sight concerned the reporting person, who informed the Słubice police about the situation. Railway Protection Guard officers received a similar report, then spotted and apprehended the man described in it. He turned out to be a 48-year-old Chinese national.
Officers secured the phones in the man’s possession, and they will undergo a detailed examination. Police will conduct procedural actions with the detained 48-year-old to clarify all the circumstances in which the photographs were taken. This is particularly important for public safety given the tense international situation and the related threats. The prosecutor’s office and other services have been informed of the case.
Across Poland, since November of last year, the TOR police operation ordered by the Chief Commander of Police has been underway. Police officers in Lubusz Voivodeship are actively involved in carrying out the operation’s tasks, conducting intensive measures aimed at protecting railway infrastructure and ensuring the safety of residents and travelers.
In Lubusz Voivodeship, where the railway network is an important part of the regional transportation system, police officers conduct patrol duties together with the Railway Protection Guard and soldiers of the Territorial Defence Forces. Uniformed personnel monitor the areas around stations, sidings, viaducts, transfer hubs, and railway tracks. These extensive measures have one goal: to ensure safety and maintain the full operability of infrastructure that is crucial to the functioning of the region and the country.
“We want to remind the public that if anyone observes something concerning, it should be reported as quickly as possible by calling the emergency number 112. Every report from the public will be thoroughly examined and checked. Safety is everyone’s shared responsibility,” the police said.
