On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Rosomak, a company based in Siemianowice Śląskie and part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), signed an agreement worth 57 million PLN with the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSSE), including support for the launch of a production line for Legwan 4×4 armored vehicles.

The project carried out in Siemianowice Śląskie includes the development of modern production capabilities, including the launch of a production line for Legwan 4×4 armored vehicles, the robotization of the welding department, the digitalization of painting and production processes, as well as the modernization and reorganization of the central warehouse.
The investment support decision from KSSE was presented by Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański, together with Wojciech Saługa, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship; Dr. Rafał Żelazny, President of the Management Board of KSSE; and Tomasz Kamiński, Vice President of the Management Board of KSSE. It was received by Rosomak Management Board members Marek Niedbał and Wojciech Zubko.
“Thanks to these funds, a Legwan production line will be established. The plant, which is a showcase of the Polish defense industry, will undergo robotization and digitalization,” said Minister Andrzej Domański.
“This site will undergo significant transformation. New technologies will be introduced, and as KSSE we will continue to actively support companies from the defense sector in the Silesian Voivodeship,” emphasized KSSE President Rafał Żelazny.
“This is not only an opportunity to reduce investment costs, but also to shorten implementation time. This agreement and decision are part of a broader concept of deep modernization of Poland’s defense potential, which also strengthens the position of the Polish Armaments Group and Rosomak on global markets,” added Rosomak Management Board member Marek Niedbał.
“This is an important project that highlights the role of Silesia as a center of modern industry. The investment strengthens the potential of the Polish defense sector, which is playing an increasingly important role not only in the security system, but also as a driver of innovation and economic development.”
It should be recalled that on September 25, 2025, Rosomak signed a framework agreement with the Armament Agency for the delivery of 1,266 Legwan light tactical vehicles for the Polish Armed Forces, which will join nearly 400 ordered two years earlier. On March 11 this year, Rosomak signed an agreement with South Korean company KIA Corporation for the delivery of 375 Legwan chassis in the KIA KLTV Cab Chassis Truck 4P version, to be used as carriers for selected components of the San C-UAS (counter-unmanned aerial systems) air defense system intended to counter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
LPR Legwan vehicles entered service with the Polish Armed Forces on December 23, 2024, initially with the 20th Bartoszyce Mechanized Brigade.
The delivered vehicles are in an armored version which, according to the manufacturer, provides crew and passenger protection at Level 2 (7.62 mm × 39 API) or Level 3 (7.62 mm × 51 AP) according to STANAG 4569, and are equipped with a rotating mount enabling the installation of a 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm machine gun or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
The base LPR Legwan is powered by a Hyundai D6EB diesel engine with an output of 225 hp, coupled with an automatic transmission, and features fully independent suspension on all axles. Its modern design is highlighted by an eight-speed automatic transmission, a central tire inflation system, and run-flat capability allowing continued driving after tire damage. The gross vehicle weight is approximately 5.7 metric tones, filling the gap between light vehicles up to 3.5 metric tones GVW and heavier designs based on the Waran 4×4 platform.
