Metis, specialists in providing Radio Frequency (RF) and drone detection innovative technologies across diverse sectors, is launching THEIA their new operating system and graphical user interface. THEIA will be deployed to all their product range to maximise the benefits of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) in the rapid consolidation of multiple RF data sources into a single easy to use and understand Graphical User Interface (GUI). Metis will be showcasing Skyperion (their mobile drone detection product) and THEIA at DSEi 25, Excel, London (9-12 September 2025) in partnership with Allen-Vanguard on stand S5-540.

Metis has a long history in developing, producing and deploying sophisticated signals intelligence gathering technology to protect people, places and privacy. For the last 10 years, this expertise has been increasingly focussed on countering the rising asymmetric drone threat, and Metis has been at the forefront of C-UAS RF detection capability development. This has culminated in the design and production of Hyperion (broader RF detection) and Skyperion (more specific drone detection) which both capture a wide range of RF emissions of varying strengths across the electromagnetic spectrum, filter out background noise and known entities, before rapidly analysing complex waveforms to identify and locate potential threats. Over 80 of these systems are in operation with NATO partners, or deployed supporting national security interests, by helping safeguard airspace, key installations and critical infrastructure against the threats posed by rogue drones or nefarious RF activity.
THEIA (goddess of insight and vision) will be installed on all existing Metis products and has been designed to consolidate the vast array of complex RF detection analytical data captured by Metis systems (or other sources) into a single easy to use and understand GUI. THEIA will deliver rapid situational awareness through clearer data presentation which, combined with reduced complexity and streamlined workflows, will ensure more accurate and faster decision making. The system has been developed to minimise the training burden and the interface can be customised to meet the needs of the user from basic to expert levels depending on the threat profile and training levels. The GUI is designed for real world operators to minimise the cognitive burden, reduce distractions from mission focus and ensure resilience under high tempo scenarios. THEIA is fully future proofed having been specifically designed for ML and AI integration upgrades and uses an open architecture to facilitate both easy integration with existing command and control systems or wider C-UAS suites and allow rapid upgrades and data sharing.
Tony Burnell, CEO of Metis said:
Having spent a lifetime learning how to analyse complex RF waveforms, and for many deciphering the mass of data traditional RF detect systems produce must seem like trying to read the matrix, I am extremely proud of THEIA and its ability to harness all the benefits of modern technology, such as ML and AI, while at the same time consolidate that mass of information and data into something meaningful that an operator and commanders can quickly and easily use to enhance their decision making and help protect people, places and privacy.
