On Monday, June 15, 2026, according to the German trade magazine Hartpunkt, South Korean company Hyundai Rotem signed an agreement with Germany’s FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH (FFG) during the 29th edition of Eurosatory 2026, the international defense industry exhibition organized by Coges Events and taking place on June 15–19 this year at Paris-Nord Villepinte near Paris. The agreement covers cooperation on the development and production of support vehicles for Poland’s K2PL tanks.

Under the agreement, the German specialist will support the development of the K2PL ARV (Armored Recovery Vehicle) and supply specialist equipment kits for all 31 vehicles of this type. Deliveries of the K2PL ARV from Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar-Łabędy are scheduled to begin in 2029 and end in 2031.
The specialist equipment package is to be derived from the WiSENT 2 armored engineering support vehicle, in particular its hydraulic systems and components such as the 40-tonne main winch, auxiliary winch, 32-tonne hydraulic crane, dozer blade and CRS (Combat Recovery System) towing system.
The K2PL ARV is to have a three-person crew and measure 9 m in length, 3.6 m in width and 3.4 m in height, as it shares its chassis with the tank. Its combat weight will be 61.5 tonnes. For self-defense, it will use a remotely controlled weapon station and two sets of six smoke grenade launchers. The crew will have an NBC protection system, a fire suppression system, a drone radio-jamming system, air conditioning and an auxiliary power unit (APU) at its disposal.
It should be recalled that on August 1, 2025, the Armament Agency of the Polish Ministry of National Defense and HRC signed Executive Agreement No. 2 for another 180 tanks, including 116 K2GF tanks to be delivered in 2026–2027 and 64 vehicles in the Polish-adapted K2PL configuration, 61 of which will be assembled in Poland. The agreement also covers 81 support vehicles of three types: 31 K2PL ARV armored recovery vehicles, 25 K2PL CEV (Combat Engineering Vehicle) engineering vehicles and 25 K2PL LBV (Launched Bridge Vehicle) bridge-laying vehicles, which will be developed and built in Poland. All of this falls under the framework agreement for a total of 1,000 K2GF/PL tanks. The first executive agreement for 180 K2GF tanks was finalized on November 13, 2025.
On April 27 this year, Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar-Łabędy signed a subcontract with Hyundai Rotem regulating activities related to the assembly, servicing and Polish adaptation of K2 tanks to the K2PL version. Earlier, on October 28, 2025, representatives of ZM Bumar-Łabędy and HRC officially signed an agreement covering, among other things, the acquisition of tools and production equipment needed to launch an assembly line in Poland for tanks and support vehicles.
In turn, on December 15, 2025, the Armament Agency and HRC signed a sublicense agreement covering the transfer of rights to carry out MRO tasks on the Polish market, paving the way for the development of domestic maintenance and repair capabilities for K2GF tanks and, in the future, K2PL tanks and ARV vehicles.
