The K9MH (Mobile Howitzer) draws on solutions from the K9A2 tracked howitzer. Although the concept of the new artillery system had been known for approximately two years, its presentation took place in spring of this year (Hanwha Aerospace unveils the K9 MH wheeled artillery system).

The K9MH howitzer is equipped with the same 52-caliber barrel as the tracked version, however in the wheeled variant the turret is fully unmanned. All crew members operating the vehicle are accommodated in the armored cab of the truck chassis.
Thanks to the automated loading process, the K9MH can fire eight rounds per minute. The process of loading the ammunition magazine, which holds 40 rounds, has also been automated.
In connection with the efforts of Polish company Ponar Wadowice to offer the Polish Armed Forces a Polish-adapted version version of the Ukrainian Bohdan howitzer, Hanwha Aerospace representatives acknowledge that they rate the chances of selling the K9MH to the Polish Army as low (PONAR Wadowice to Produce Ukrainian Bohdana Howitzers in Poland).
The currently presented K9MH prototype has been built on a Tatra 8×8 chassis. When asked by MILMAG about the possibility of mounting the artillery system on a Polish chassis, representatives of the South Korean conglomerate stated that due to the K9MH’s total weight approaching 40 tonnes, the chassis supplied by Jelcz have insufficient payload capacity. It would therefore be necessary for that manufacturer to develop a new chassis.
Of course, it is also possible to offer the system on a Czech chassis, whose manufacturer works closely with Huta Stalowa Wola.
