On Monday, May 11, 2026, the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI, Kaitseministeerium), under Estonia’s Ministry of Defence, signed an amendment to its agreement with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), acting on behalf of Hanwha Aerospace, for the delivery of three additional K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers. They will join the six already under contract. Deliveries of the first launchers will begin in the second half of 2027.

Aneks jest następstwem umowy międzyrządowej z 21 grudnia 2025 za około 290 mln EUR, która obejmowała sześć wyrzutni K239 Chunmoo wraz z pakietem amunicji kierowanej CGR-080, CTM-MR i CTM-290, a także wsparciem operacyjnym i szkoleniowym. Zamiar pozyskania koreańskiego systemu ogłoszono 23 października 2025.
Dzięki temu kolejnemu zamówieniu estońska współpraca przemysłowo-obronnaz Hanwha obejmuje teraz zarówno 36 samobieżnych haubic K9EST Kõu kal. 155 mm, jak i 9 wieloprowadnicowe wyrzutnie rakietowych K239 Chunmoo. Ich uzupełnieniem będzie 9 amerykańskich wyrzutni M142 HIMARS (6 już dostarczono, a w planach jest łącznie 12 zestawów) i 12 francuskich CAESAR Mk1 6×6, z których pierwsze już są w kraju.
Poza Polską (która zamówiła 290 wyrzutni), system K239 Chunmoo trafił na eksport do Zjednoczonych Emiratów Arabskich (12 egz.) na podstawie umowy z 2017 oraz Arabii Saudyjskiej (liczba nieznana, dostawy potwierdzono w 2023). Ostatnio 12 wyrzutni zamówiła Norwegia. System jest obecnie oferowany w Malezji, Szwecji (gdzie kontrofertą jest HIMARS) oraz Iraku.
K239 Chunmoo wyposażona jest w dwa zasobniki rakietowe, które mogą pomieścić cztery rodzaje rakiet kierowanych, a także niekierowanych kal. 131 mm (36 pocisków). W przypadku amunicji kierowanej, w każdym zasobniku mieści się, w zależności od stosowanego efektora: 6 kierowanych rakiet kalibru 239 mm CGR-080 o zasięgu 80 km albo 1 kierowany pocisk balistyczny kalibru 600 mm CTM-290 o zasięgu 290 km (w przypadku tego drugiego nowy pocisk CTM-X o zwiększonym zasięgu na potrzeby eksportowe).
Kolejne zamówienia systemów Hanwha przez Estonię opierają się na doświadczeniu w zakresie szybkich dostaw, jakości produktów i niezawodności, zdobytym dzięki kolejnym zamówieniom na K9 i kontraktowi na Chunmoo z grudnia 2025.H
Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur said:
“From the perspective of military capability, artillery rocket systems are of invaluable importance, which is why we are constantly seeking opportunities to expand our arsenal. The contract for three additional Chunmoo systems not only represents a significant capability development but also reflects our increasingly active and effective cooperation with our South Korean partners. This cooperation will not remain limited to military capability development alone, as Hanwha Aerospace will reinvest a significant portion of the total contract value back into the Estonian economy.”
“At the end of last year, we signed a contract with our South Korean partners for the acquisition of six launchers, rockets, and training support. With the contract signed, we will receive three additional launchers, further enhancing our precision strike capability,” said Janari Kasemets, Category Manager for Combat Platforms at the ECDI.

“This follow-on order enables us to further contribute to strengthening Estonia’s defense capabilities and defense-industrial ecosystem. Building on this momentum, we will continue to expand our footprint across the Baltic and Nordic regions, and to broaden our land systems portfolio in strategic partnership with Estonia.”
Under the framework agreement, Hanwha Aerospace will also invest in Estonia’s defense industry in accordance with the agreed scope and terms. Under the agreement, the company will invest one-fifth of the total procurement contract value in Estonia’s industry. The initial investment is expected to generate 40–60 million EUR for Estonian defense companies over ten years.
