On Friday, January 30, 2026, a ceremonial transfer of command between the commanders of the 3rd and 4th rotations of the Podlasie Military Task Group (WZZ) took place at the Zielona Training Area in Karakule. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz was represented at the ceremony by Deputy Minister Stanisław Wziątek.

Soldiers of the 16th Mechanized Division have completed their tasks as part of the Podlasie Military Task Group, handing over responsibility for the group’s continued operations to soldiers of the 18th Mechanized Division (Poland: 16th Mechanized Division Assumes Third Rotation of Operation Safe Podlasie).
“Soldiers serving in the Podlasie Military Task Group stand guard over the security of the state in one of the most important areas of responsibility of the Polish Armed Forces. Their professionalism, readiness, and determination are the foundation of Poland’s security,” said Stanisław Wziątek, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence.
The Deputy Minister expressed his appreciation to the outgoing commander of the Podlasie Military Task Group for exemplary performance of his duties and congratulated the new commander, wishing him success in carrying out the tasks entrusted to him.
Soldiers of the Podlasie Military Task Group, who carry out missions along the country’s eastern border, undertake actions every day to ensure security. The group’s primary task is to support the Border Guard in strengthening and protecting the eastern border. All activities conducted by the Podlasie Military Task Group are aimed at enhancing the security of Poland’s citizens, achieving a deterrence effect, and preparing for a potential escalation of threats.
